NeuroMobs

Neuromobs makes mobs smarter and more tactical, enhancing their awareness, coordination, and combat decisions.

NeuroMobs changes how mobs behave in Minecraft. Instead of mindless attacks, mobs now fight smarter, dodging, flanking, and coordinating with each other to create genuinely challenging encounters.

Mobs react to their surroundings and to you. They'll reposition during fights, work together in groups, and adapt their tactics based on what's happening. Horde encounters become strategic challenges rather than simple mob spam, forcing you to think on your feet and adjust your approach.

Combat feels different every time. Mobs won't just charge at you in a straight line. They'll flank, retreat when needed, and support each other in ways that make fights more engaging. Even lone mobs behave more realistically, responding to obstacles and using their environment.

Features

Group coordination (hordes): mobs can join nearby groups, follow a leader, keep simple formations, and respond to reinforcement calls. Formations and targets are recalculated periodically.

Tactical combat behavior: mobs may reposition, attempt flank approaches, or fall back based on local conditions.

Dodge behavior: mobs have a reactive dodge that can trigger after recent hits or when detecting incoming projectiles. dodges use cooldowns to avoid repeated evasions.

Parkour support: mobs can perform short, conservative jumps to cross 1–2 block gaps when appropriate; larger or risky jumps are avoided.

Environmental awareness: movement helpers avoid hazardous blocks (lava, fire, cactus) and prefer nearby safe positions when a direct path is hazardous.

Per-mob strategies: specific mob types include tailored behavior rules. while preserving core vanilla actions where applicable.

Examples of per-mob behavior

  • Zombies: They try to surround the player and gather in hordes to attack.
  • Skeletons: prefer to keep their distance, distancing themselves from the player.
  • Spiders: avoid getting stuck in tight spaces and use short jumps when helpful.
  • Blaze, Ghast, Drowned: have specialized ranged behavior and movement appropriate to their type.

Limitations and notes

  • Many behaviors are chance-based or intentionally conservative; a given mob will not always dodge or succeed at a parkour move.
  • Horde coordination runs on periodic updates and uses heuristic rules; it is not continuous global planning.
  • Parkour logic is limited to small gaps and safe landings to avoid unpredictable outcomes.
