This does not appear to be true on the current version available for download (1.2.0-rc2.76). Is there supposed to be a newer version that you forgot to upload or do we need to download other files along with it? My game keeps crashing with the error "Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/mcmoddev/basemetals/init/Materials" (https://pastebin.com/WbE7RFm5).
In reply to loli_no_kami:
Just seconding this comment; however, I did not get a crash. The ores from this mod didn't show in JEI until I added Base Metals. However, it seems there is a comment below with some more context on this issue. It may be a result of some weird mod loading process, though I don't know for sure.
In reply to DarthFatCat:
The latest version should not require BaseMetals but there might be issues with it finding anything beyond vanilla materials if BaseMetals, et. al. are not installed. This is one of the things on my TODO list, which has been growing in size during the past year(s) that $PAID_WORK has consumed all my free time.
heres my crash report
https://pastebin.com/fSnNvG3x
Neither these ores nor the Ender ores spawn correctly. In fact, they don't even show in JEI or in the Creative Menu. No clue what mods could be causing a conflict, I have all of the required libraries.
In reply to DepressedCubone:
...Your report runs counter to test experience, so you've either buggered the configurations, don't have, say, MMDLib installed and/or possibly also do not have MMD OreSpawn 3.x installed. Note that there are some... issues with the way the mods currently layer, so it could also be that you have left out BaseMetals, which provides wrappers and assistance for things from vanilla minecraft like Emeralds and Diamonds. We're working to resolve this issue entirely, but the complexity of the entire stack is causing some issues - as is the fact that most of the dev-team has RL interfering with working on these mods.
Could i add non-supported mod ores using the config? Asking both if that would be allowed and if its possible using the configs that comes with the mod.
if I don't have some of the mods the nether ores add, does it still add them?
I too have an issue where no ores spawn in the nether, and they don't show up in JEI either. I have the latest versions of this mod, MMDLib and MMD Ore Spawn installed in my modpack.
In reply to Nitesurgeon:
Strange, we have seen issues with ores not spawning, but we have not seen this specific combination of symptoms. Is this a fresh install with all newly generated configuration files ?
In reply to dshadowwolf:
Yeah, I included this mod and the MMD mods into my modpack a few weeks ago. We had just been playing normally (in fact, I forgot I had them installed). When we went to the nether we noticed there were no nether ores. That's when I double checked and I did indeed have all 3. Even double checked the config to make sure nothing was disabled. They do not even show up in creative in a newly made single player world.
Interestingly enough, Ender IO picks up the nether ores in the form of cable facades. We also use the dense metals mod and those dense nether ores will show in JEI, but so far we have not found any in worldgen.
Our modpack was created after all the latest versions of your mods were published, so it can't be that we had an older version and updated midway through playing. Here is the link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/tales-of-the-engineer-herbalist-and-mage
Feel free to test and try yourself.
In reply to Nitesurgeon:
I'll take a look - oddly enough... we have a pack nearing release that uses these as well and we are not seeing this issue - its why I'm puzzled :)
In reply to dshadowwolf:
Ok so now this shit is weird. Decided to test another nether ores mod: Netherending ores, but even when generating a brand new world, no nether ores are spawning. Granted the Netherending ores do show in JEI, but I can't find any in the nether. So maybe there is something interfering with nether generation in my modpack? idk anymore...
EDIT: nevermind, didn't read the netherending ores instructions carefully. You have to extract their zip contents to the CoFH World
Do the nethermetals not explode anymore? I've tried all sorts of numbers on the Explosion Percentage Chance in the config, but so far I've not have them explode once.
In reply to Todo_McGillicutty:
hrm... I have not run into that in testing, but let me go look at the code as it is possible that the move to a more unified configuration with a lot of options moving to MMDLib has had a negative effect here.
The metals still arent spawning in the nether like Jessica_Mae said but they show in jei, i have the most recent versions of MMDLib and MMD OreSpawn aswell as Base and Modern metals, is the fix coming soon?
not sure what i'm doing wrong, but none of these ores are spawning in the nether, i installed MMDLib and MMD OreSpawn with it, also tried both Nether Metals 1.2.0-rc2.76 and Nether Metals 1.2.0-rc1.73, tried deleting the configs so they'd generate new but there's no ores, no nether ores show in nei either, mod showed loaded in the menu mods list. i also tried with an existing world(after deleting the nether world folder) and with a new world
In reply to Jessica_Mae:
Odd... Let me go check my test instance and see if I can replicate this at all...
<EDIT>
I am not able to replicate this when using the full suite of *Metals that is available, however I am going to see if what I think is occurring here actually is.
...
...
Okay, I think I know what is happening and I'm not happy, but... this highlights a bug and shows that we have to expand, a tiny bit, on how the split between the MMDLib and BaseMetals functions.
In the original -rc1 series there was a mistake in moving all "extended vanilla" (and hence raw vanilla) stuff from BaseMetals to MMDLib. When this was undone, well, I made a mistake and forgot to leave the default wrappers for things in place, apparently, causing this breakage.
In reply to dshadowwolf:
The issue is fixed and will be included in the next -rc, which will (hopefully) be the last before actual "release" status. Thanks for finding this bug, @Jessica_Mae.
What are the differences between Nether Metals and Netherending Ores?
