N-Tech Polyglot adds a separate translation reader for books, mod guides and quest text. Open a guide or quest and press F8 to read its text in French. Minecraft's interface language stays unchanged. The original book pages are not replaced in place.
The English-to-French model and its CPU inference engine are included in the mod jar. Players do not need Python, an API key, an account, a translation server, an external installer or a model download. The jar is approximately 546 MB because it includes the model and native libraries. On first use, model data is extracted and verified inside the Minecraft instance.
Direct reading integrations: vanilla books, Patchouli, GuideMe, FTB Quests, Immersive Engineering manuals and Modonomicon. For other screens, F8 captures readable text rendered by Minecraft's Font. Text stored in images and some custom renderers cannot be captured. Images, recipes and links remain available in the original screen.
The reader includes French/Original tabs, adjustable text size, scrolling and copy controls. Automatic translation can make mistakes, particularly with mod names and technical terms. Not every individual book and quest has been tested.
Requirements: Minecraft 1.21.1, Java 21, NeoForge. Install on the client; the server does not need this mod. Validated with NeoForge 21.1.256 on Windows x64. Native libraries for Linux x64/ARM64 and macOS Intel/Apple Silicon are included, but those platforms have not been runtime-tested here.
The included offline model supports English to French. Other language pairs require explicitly selecting the optional LibreTranslate mode and configuring a compatible server. Text is sent to that server only in this optional mode. The default offline engine does not send reading text, fetch models, or require network access.
Install: place the jar in mods, launch Minecraft, open your guide or quest, then press F8. The key is remappable in Controls.
