Description
Please read first: this is an unofficial, temporary port.
- All credit for Tinkers' Construct goes to SlimeKnights, who made it. The 26.1 port this builds on is justduck25's Continuum Construct.
- We made this for our own modpack that we play with friends, and we're sharing it to hold people over until the official update.
- When an official Tinkers' Construct comes out for the Minecraft version you play, switch to it.
- Report bugs in this version to us on GitHub, never to SlimeKnights.
Tinkers' Construct 3 for Minecraft 26.1.2 on NeoForge. This is an unofficial fork, not the official Tinkers' Construct by SlimeKnights.
The fixes in this fork were written mostly by AI (Claude) under Arthur's direction, checked against official Tinkers' Construct 3.12.1 with the tests described on this page, and tested on his server.
All credit goes to the people who made it:
- Tinkers' Construct and Mantle are by SlimeKnights, under the MIT license. The code, textures and design are theirs.
- Continuum Construct and Continuum Core, the port to Minecraft 26.1, are by justduck25, under the MIT license.
- This fork only adds fixes on top of their work, and every fix has been offered back to Continuum Construct as pull requests #34 to #37. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by SlimeKnights or justduck25, so please report problems with this fork to us, not to them.
We play Tinkers on a small server with friends and wanted it to behave the way it did on 1.20.1, so we compared Continuum Construct against the official Tinkers' Construct 3.12.1 for Minecraft 1.20.1 and fixed the places where it did not match. Everything the port already did well is still there.
What changed compared to Continuum Construct
- Balance uses the official 3.12.1 numbers: modifiers, material stats and tiers, tool definitions and mob equipment.
- 17 modifiers that behaved differently now match official, for example sticky, fireborn, silky, luck, ram and entangled. Rugged, frost walker and long fall block damage fully again (the hit no longer flashes, knocks back or plays the hurt sound).
- The smeltery no longer melts mobs it cannot hurt, such as armor stands or fire resistant mobs.
- The Tinkers books show their crafting pages in multiplayer and use the official book fonts; 135 encyclopedia entries are back.
- Station screens, the smeltery and the book text draw where and how official draws them (titles and labels were invisible on 26.1).
- Tooltips show final attack damage and speed the way official does, instead of raw attribute modifiers.
- Roughly Enough Items gets official layouts for all 15 Tinkers categories, with a working "+" transfer button.
- The REI and JEI item lists match official: fluids and buckets for metals no installed mod provides (like vibranium) are hidden, Tinkers fluids draw in the list, and materials and entities show real pictures.
- The queen's slime block renders again (it was invisible when placed).
- Tools saved under an older build recalculate their stats once when loaded, so existing worlds pick up the fixes. Materials, modifiers, damage and broken state are never changed.
- The part builder shows its material panel again in multiplayer, and casting tables and basins show the cooling cast.
- Includes Continuum Construct's own 3.12.3 and 3.12.4 fixes: a crash on negative damage, part builder shift-click next to a chest, the smeltery's second fuel tank, returning thrown tools, tank colors and fluid particles.
How we checked it
- Numbers: a script loads the official 1.20.1 mod and this one, dumps every material stat, modifier value, recipe and tag (over 15,000 values), and diffs the two. On this build, 21 groups of differences remain. 20 are intended, each with a written reason: things Minecraft 26.1 itself changed, and additions Continuum Construct made on purpose. 1 is a known text bug: three smeltery fluid effect tooltips word a unit or an enchantment slightly differently ("min" instead of "m", "Enchantment Fortune III" instead of "Fortune III").
- Screens: the same kind of comparison for every Tinkers screen, book page and recipe viewer page, as screenshots side by side.
- In game: 153 automated test cases on a headless server, 132 of the mod's own unit tests, a scripted client that opens every screen and book page (78 checks), and a probe that draws every REI entry (Tinkers entries with no picture went from 561 to 0).
Installing
- Needs NeoForge 26.1.2.109 or newer and Continuum Core 1.12.1 or newer (below 1.13). The stock Continuum Core from CurseForge is all you need; the book fixes are built into this jar.
- The mod id is
tconstruct, the same as Continuum Construct. Install one or the other, never both. A world made with Continuum Construct opens with this mod: every item, block and fluid keeps its ID (the registry dump of 3,417 entries is identical to our previous build). - Back up your world before switching, as with any mod change.
