What's new
Changelog
2.0.0
The Muffler had no interface at all in 1.0.0: right click cycled through four radii and that was the whole of it. This release gives it a panel and quite a lot to put in it.
Right click now opens the panel instead of cycling the radius. Sneak and right click still toggles the block without opening anything.
Sound
- The radius is a slider, anywhere from 1 to 32 blocks, instead of four fixed steps.
- Volume in percent, read the way the vanilla sound sliders do. 0% is silence, 100% leaves a sound alone.
- One dial per sound category on top of that: music, jukebox, weather, blocks, hostile, friendly, players, ambient, voice. Overall and category multiply, the same as master and category volume in the vanilla settings.
- The field fades out over the last few blocks instead of cutting off. The radius you set stays the part that is fully silent, so the number still means what it says.
Shape
- Room: the field spreads through open air and stops at solid blocks, so it fills the room it is standing in. Doors, stairs and slabs do not seal it; full blocks and glass do. The panel warns you when the search cannot find an end.
- Box: three sides of its own, for halls the room search cannot cover.
- The boundary draws itself into the world while the panel is open, and while you hold a Muffler in your hand, with a brighter ring where the field crosses the height you are standing at.
Vibrations
- A field can swallow the game events that sculk sensors, shriekers and the warden listen for. On by default, switchable per block, and a server can forbid it outright.
- Mob deaths still get through so sculk catalysts keep working, and the warden can still smell you from close up.
The heard list
- A page listing what this block has swallowed lately, with counters.
- Click an entry to put it on the list; a button decides whether the list is the exceptions or the only things damped.
- Shift click an entry and the comparator becomes a detector for that one sound.
Redstone
- A comparator reads the noise level inside the field, 0 to 15, measured as it would have been without the Muffler.
Block
- Dyeable in all sixteen colours, as often as you like, and the colour survives being broken and put back down. Only the wool takes the dye; the pad stays readable even on black.
- Direction: a field can work outwards only, inwards only, or both.
- Copy the settings off one Muffler and paste them onto the next. The clipboard survives a restart of the game.
- Three advancements.
Server config
New file, world/serverconfig/muffl-server.toml. Caps for the radius and the box, and switches
for the room shape and the vibration damping. The caps move in both directions, so a server can
also hand out larger fields than the default.
Notes for existing worlds
Mufflers that are already placed keep doing what they did. Their old single volume moves into all nine categories on load, so nothing changes underfoot. New ones still swallow everything by default.
