Description

Some nights the ground starts to shake. Footsteps come from somewhere past the treeline, a thick mist rolls in over the land, and when it slowly lifts, something twenty-eight blocks tall is standing out there.
The giant
-
There is only one. A world never has more than one Mountain Giant at a time. It turns up some time between late evening and the small hours on plains, snowy plains or meadows. On any given night there's about a one-in-three chance, every quiet night makes the next one likelier, and by the fourth night it comes for certain.
-
It isn't looking for you. It's neutral. It walks, it tramples, and it turns back at the edge of its plains or at deep water. Hit it and it will come after you, and its fists hit hard.
-
It flattens things. Trees, fences, walls and crops in a 28-block-wide path get pushed over. Gentle slopes it walks up; real hills get a pass cut through them. Houses get both fists brought down on them. Rivers and ponds up to six blocks deep it wades straight through.
-
It leaves at dawn, walking back into the mist it came from.

Taking it apart
Every 10% of health it loses, a chunk of its body breaks off and drops ore: raw copper first, then raw iron. Bring it down for 10 diamonds, the Mountain Heart and two Mountain Plates.
The Mountain Hammer
Forged from the Mountain Heart. A heavy weapon that also mines like the best pickaxe there is, 3×3 at a time (sneak to mine one block). Hold right click to raise it, release to slam the ground: a shockwave rolls out in three rings and throws everything back.

Mountain armour
Upgrade netherite armour on a smithing table with a Mountain Plate and a gold ingot. A step above netherite in armour, toughness and knockback resistance, and with the full set nothing can knock you back.

The Mountain Horn
Don't want to wait for the right night? Craft a Mountain Horn from gold blocks, mossy cobblestone and a goat horn, and blow it deep in the night. The ground answers, and the giant rises out of the mist about 80 blocks away. The horn is never used up; after an answer it rests for a day.
