What's new

0.2.0

Three new jetskis

  • The green, red and navy jetskis are rebuilt from scratch, each true to the length of the real craft it is drawn from. Mirrors with a real reflection, a dashboard screen, an ignition key, headlights that light up the water at night, and a light signature of its own at start-up.
  • Built in survival from seven parts: hull, deck, seat, handlebar and engine assembled at the workbench, turbine and nozzle machined, then everything fitted on the assembly stand. Needs MoreIndustry: Workshop and MoreTransport: Motorbike.
  • The previous models stay in the creative tab as the Scanned jetskis.

Handling

  • A throttle, not a switch. Holding forward opens the throttle in under a second; letting go lets the turbine spin down and the hull glide on. Pulling back reverses the jet: it brakes first, then backs up slowly.
  • The jetski follows your gaze instead of snapping to it, faster the more thrust you give it, as a jet-steered hull does. At idle it barely turns.
  • No more sliding sideways like on ice. The hull bites the water when you turn, with just a little drift left in it.
  • It leans into turns (it used to lean outwards), and its nose lifts when you accelerate and dips when you cut the throttle or hit something. Other players now see the lean, the spray and the engine sound too.

Collisions

  • The whole hull is solid. The nose and the stern used to pass through docks, walls and other jetskis; now they stop against them, with a small bounce and a thud. You can also click the nose or the stern to climb on or refuel.
  • Quays stop you, beaches don't. A jetski no longer climbs onto stone, planks or any ledge at the water line. Sand, dirt, gravel and clay still let it run aground.

Water jet

  • A real jet of water. The turbine throws an arc of spray behind the stern that follows the throttle: a tall rooster tail at full throttle, twice that with the boost, a boil at the stern when you pull away hard, and only the wake once you let go. Every player sees the same jet.

Shaders

  • No more flickering world with shader packs. The mirrors' reflection made every other frame lose its sunlight under Iris/Oculus; with a shader pack on, the mirrors now stay dark glass.

Refuelling

  • A real filler neck. The pump nozzle now goes into the opening on the deck instead of resting on the cap, and hangs over the side instead of across the seat.
