Modpack

For a simple, lightweight modpack (with quests!) built around this mod, see the More Progression Pack. By adding many of the basic modding commodities and quality of life changes (such as REI, Jade, and many more), as well as few carefully selected other mods (such as End Remastered, some simple structure mods, Frog Legs, Universal Enchants, and more), the progression experience is taken to the next level.

Design Goals

Extended Progression: Default minecraft progression from wood to stone to iron to diamond is very enjoyable, but too short. The main goal of this mod is to fix that by introducing tiers beyond diamond.

Straightforward: Each recipe and machine in vanilla minecraft is very simple. This mod keeps this core philosophy by gating content behind tiers instead of long and complicated recipes.

Full Experience: Most content added by official updates introduced great potential, but no execution, causing many items (and other things) to be useless or underused (copper, amethysts, quartz, warden, prismarine, food, and more). This mod focuses on making use of already existing items, rather than adding new ones. Additionally, two new systems (upgrades and gourmet food) are introduced to make you chase after all cool and unique items. For an even fuller experience, it is recommended to play this mod in combination with the End Remastered mod.

Features

Upgradable (search for $upgradable in REI): Instead of constantly crafting new tools and armor, you craft them once, and then upgrade them. Nearly all the work you do, goes into improving your tools and armor. As such, you really don't want to lose them. Luckily, they are unbreakable, fireproof, and soulbound.

Tier Cores (search for $tier in REI): These elevate your tools and armor to an entirely new level each time you merge them in the smithing table, changing their looks and becoming considerably more powerful.

Upgrades (search for $upgrade in REI): There are all kinds of different items that can be used to upgrade your gear via the smithing table. Most simply increase your damage or armor, but others give more powerful effects, such as a headlight, insomnia immunity, a step assist, or even an entire jetpack.

Gourmet Food (search for $gourmet in REI): Explore all kinds of different cuisine, including some previously unedible items (glistering melon, turtle egg, nether wart, and more), as well as new items (star apple, cosmic soup, and more).

Monster Squads: Monsters now have a small chance to have a military rank (general, commander, warlord, and more) assigned to them by the monster empire based on their capabilities. These are way stronger than normal monsters, and always spawn with their own squad of even more monsters. Higher ranked monsters have more squad members, some of which may even have a rank of their own. However, taking the risk to challenge them brings high rewards, as ranked monsters drop enchantments, which increase with their ranks.

Difficulty Scaling: As your armor increases in tier, the monster empire becomes increasingly wary of you, sending stronger and stronger squads to patrol your area, ensuring the security of the world.

How To Play

Until iron, nothing changes in terms of tools and armor. However, you can already benefit from any gourmet foods that you can manage to get your hands on.

After that, craft steel bindings and use them to upgrade your iron tools and armor in the smithing table to steel tools and armor. They will stay with you for a while (likely forever), so be sure to not lose them. Now, you can apply any and all upgrades that you can find or craft to them via the smithing table.

Next are the good old diamonds. Find them and craft their tools and armor as normal. However, instead of using them directly, first merge them with your existing arsenal to upgrade them to the next tier, ultimate diamond. At this point, you're already stronger than diamond.

Now, it's time for a big change. Not only will you need to go to the nether, you will also craft a bigger and better crafting table, the assembly. This allows you to craft an incinerator, which is a way faster blast furnace and unlocks new recipes.

Using the newly acquired incinerator, you can now smelt obsidian into refined obsidian. Together with some redstone, copper, and gold, you can craft the next tier core, refined obsidian module, once again making you significantly stronger.

Next up is a big one. Titan. For it you will need lots(!) of quartz and a new ore, emberite. As they both spawn on all levels, it is recommended to explore the nether and gather them as you go. However, they do spawn more frequently at lower levels, so going there might give you a headstart on the ancient debris grind (though ancient debris now also has a slight chance to spawn at any level, so you might come across a few while exploring)…

For the rest, it will be up to you to explore.

Useful Info

Below is a list of useful things that might be easy to miss.

Gameplay

REI: Make use of REI to see all the recipes, what the upgrades can do, and to spot untasted gourmet foods.
Prepare for Death: You will likely die. Often. Therefore, it is recommended to play with a backpack mod (such as Sophisticated Backpacks), and to enchant your backpack with soulbound as early as possible.
Be a Gourmet: Find and eat as much different gourmet food as you can get your hands on to increase your max health.
Enchant your Gear: Try to enchant your gear with protection and sharpness as early as possible to get a headstart over your enemies. You can find good enchantments by killing monsters with a rank or by fishing with a good rod (a high lure enchantment is recommended).
Fixed Anvil: Applying enchantments now costs a fair price, regardless in which order you apply them, even if you already have a lower level of the enchantment applied. Additionally, anvils no longer break, and many enchantments now allow you to merge them in the anvil beyond their usual limit.
Linear Experience: You need the same amount of xp to reach the next level, regardless of your current level.
Enhanced Grindstone: You can now place an enchanted item at the top and a book at the bottom of the grindstone to move the bottommost enchantment of the item to the book. You can use a book and quill or a written book to specify which enchantments to move (a comma separated list of numbers that specify the position from the top, meaning 1 refers to the topmost enchantment). You can put ^ before a number to invert it (so it becomes the position from the bottom, meaning ^1 refers to the bottommost enchantment). If the first list entry is a *, then all enchantments are selected, except for the numbers that follow.
*Shield*: While equipped, a shield provides a flat damage reduction.
*Fixed Ender Dragon Fight*: Changed the ender dragon to be very aggressive and engaging, so don't go there unless you are fully prepared. It is recommended to play this mod in combination with End Remastered, which reworks the end portal to require collecting different eyes from all over minecraft.

Upgrades

Disabling Effects: The following effects allow you to set keybinds to enable/disable them: Luminance, Jetpack (in "Jetpack Attribute" category), Step Assist, Insomnia Immunity, Bad Omen Immunity, Magnet, Silent, Elytra.
Torch: Upgrade your helmet to emit light.
Rocket: Upgrade your boots to become much faster.
Jetpack: Upgrade your chestplate to attach a jetpack.
Golden armor: Upgrade your armor with the golden armor pieces. After upgrading all four, you no longer draw piglin aggro.
Ghast Tear: Upgrade your helmet to gain lava vision. This is useful for quickly farming a lot of ancient debris.
Carved Pumpkin: Upgrade your helmet to not draw enderman aggro from staring.
Mechanical Boots: Upgrade your boots to enjoy a step assist.
Ring of Attraction: Upgrade your chestplate to passively pull in all nearby items. This greatly helps with fishing in lava.
Dream Catcher: Upgrade your chestplate to gain Insomnia Immunity.
White Banner: Upgrade your chestplate to gain Bad Omen Immunity.
Ocean's Grace: Upgrade your helmet to gain Mining Fatigue Immunity.
Silent Heart: Upgrade your helmet to gain Darkness Immunity, and your boots to become Silent.
Anchor: Upgrade your chestplate to gain Levitation Immunity.
Fishing: Some upgrades and gourmet foods can only be found by fishing in the lava or the void.

Resources

Ancient Debris: You now need at least a titan pickaxe to mine them. Using a diamond pickaxe will not work.
Evergloom: Can be found whereever sculk can be found (such as in ancient cities, which can be found via an ancient compass). Verum Ore: Look below the end islands to find them.
Stellar Shards: They spawn in geodes that are exclusive to the end.

Mod Incompatibility

This mod was designed as a standalone experience, as it introduces lots of significant changes to make this much progression possible, including very high damage and armor. This massive change in balance makes this mod very overpowered in combination with other mods. Additionally, its unique tier and armor/tool upgrade system would require other mods to be programmed specifically for this mod to stay relevant.

However, I have not yet come across any errors in combination with other mods. If any are found, they will be listed here.

Fixed Ender Dragon Fight: Changed the ender dragon to be very aggressive and engaging, instead of permanently running away. The difficulty has been adjusted to this mod, regarding both damage and the fact that you can use a jetpack, making the fight very intense.
More Upgradable Tools: Added tiered crossbows, tridents, fishing rods, and shields, as well as upgradable shears and flint and steel.
Lava and Void Fishing: Some higher ranked fishing rods are now able to fish in lava, or even in the void.
Evergloom: Added a new tier using a new block that only spawns in sculk.
Stellar Geode: Added a new geode that only spawns in the end.
Trident Reserves Slot: Throwing a trident with loyalty will reserve its slot in the most amazing way imaginable.
Advancements: Added all kinds of advancements.
Better Bow: Bow damage now increases with range.
End Remastered: Added special mod support. Undead souls now have a 1% chance to drop from skeletons.
Ancient Compass: Added ancient compass, which points to the nearest ancient city.
Enhanced Grindstone: You can now move enchantments from an item to a book using the grindstone.
