Monkey Tail is actually a QOL mod I can't do without with all the mods now requiring the empty hand click. I can't manage my inventory and I don't want to! Hold My Beer on Forge 1.20.1 did this for me and I reached out to the author to get permission to port it over to neoforge. Unfortunately, he didn't respond and hasn't had any activity anywhere as far as I can tell.
That also means I had to use completely new code. I took the same 10th hotbar slot concept and tried my own thing! I did use AI though I'm not that good at coding yet and not being allowed to use the other mod as a basis really threw me for a loop.
Instead of the 0 key its ` or ~ because that's something actually reachable. You can't scroll to it.
I don't have a cute little hand indicator either, the selector icon just kind of float over the edge of the hot bar. I tried making my own icon assets with my other mod and that turned out horrible so I elected not to do it again. Also, it should technically be visually compatible with anything now!
OH another thing I did was that if you're on your empty hand slot and pick something up but your main inventory is full it goes straight to your backpack! on back slot, curios, and accessories slots too! (mostly)
