MI Energy Tiers
Modern Industrialization normally cares about how much EU is sitting in a machine's buffer. This addon makes the recipes care about voltage instead.
Voltage comes from the hull
The casing sets the machine's voltage. An advanced hull runs MV recipes, a turbo hull runs HV, and so on. A recipe above the machine's voltage will not start, no matter how full the energy bar is.
Power has to arrive
A machine draws its whole EU/t or nothing. A 128 EU/t recipe fed 96 EU/t makes no progress at all. Progress is kept while power is missing, so the craft picks up again once supply recovers. A big buffer will not carry a recipe the network cannot sustain.
Upgrades are amperage
Upgrades no longer raise voltage. They let a machine pull more amps at its own voltage:
| Casing | One amp | Full 8 amps |
|---|---|---|
| LV | 32 EU/t | 256 EU/t |
| MV | 128 EU/t | 1,024 EU/t |
| HV | 1,024 EU/t | 8,192 EU/t |
| EV | 8,192 EU/t | 65,536 EU/t |
| Superconductor | 128,000,000 EU/t | 1,024,000,000 EU/t |
Eight amps is everything a cable of that tier carries, so that is where upgrades stop helping. An upgrade worth less than one amp at that voltage does nothing on its own. Hover a hull or an upgrade to see exactly what it gives you.
More amps means more power arriving, so a fast machine wants more generators behind it.
Multiblocks run on their hatches
Voltage and throughput come from the energy input hatches, not the combined buffer. Each hatch carries up to two amps of its own tier, and 2 to 4 hatches one tier below a recipe can bootstrap that tier. Promotion does not cascade further than one step.
Overvoltage and foreign power
Offering a machine or cable more voltage than it accepts is refused, and can optionally be set to break the offending cable instead. Untyped FE from other mods cannot feed MI machines by default, while sending MI power out to FE machines still works.
When a machine stops
Every blocked machine shows a lightning indicator with the reason: wrong recipe voltage, not enough power this tick, no valid hatch, or overvoltage. Jade reports live input in EU/t.
Config
Per world, in the server config: underpower can keep progress (default), decay it, or decay and lose the inputs; overvoltage can be refused (default) or destructive; untyped FE input can be allowed.
