ModernCaves faithfully backports Lush, Dripstone, and Sulfur Caves, along with their features and blocks, to 1.12.2.

Lush Caves

Lush caves have been faithfully recreated with moss-covered surfaces, clay pools, cave vines, glow berries, dripleaves, spore blossoms, azaleas, and rooted dirt. All blocks have 1:1 vanilla functionality. Azalea trees have a chance to generate on the surface above Lush Caves.

Dripstone Caves

Dripstone caves fill large underground chambers with stalactites, stalagmites, and towering dripstone columns. Pointed dripstone behaves just like in modern Minecraft: stalactites drip water or lava, fill cauldrons, fall when unsupported, and damage entities beneath them.

Sulfur Caves

Bands of sulfur and cinnabar cover the cave surfaces, with sulfur spikes growing from the floors and ceilings. Potent sulfur appears beneath pools, releasing gas through the water and occasionally producing powerful geysers. Sulfur springs may generate on the surface above them, with all 10 vanilla structures included.

The Sulfur Cube is currently WIP.

Built for 1.12.2 Worlds

ModernCaves decorates the underground terrain already generated by Minecraft, allowing its cave environments to fit naturally into both vanilla and modded worlds.

It can be used with standard 1.12.2 cave generation, but pairs particularly well with YUNG's Better Caves. Its larger caverns provide more space for lush vegetation, dripstone pillars, underground lakes, and sulfur formations.
