Mob possession 1.4
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
v1.3.0 — Mounts, Commands & AI Goals
Added
- Sit / Mount / Dismount (C) — ride horses, boats, minecarts, and modded vehicles while possessing a mob, and steer them with WASD. Wolves, cats, and parrots can toggle a sitting pose.
- AI Goal Menu (V) — opens a radial menu of the possessed mob's actual AI goals and runs the one you pick. Works with modded mobs, so you can trigger their custom abilities.
- Dimension travel — possession now survives nether and end portals, and if you're riding a mount it comes with you and you stay seated.
/possesscommand/possess <target>— any entity selector, e.g./possess @e[type=creeper,limit=1,sort=nearest]/possess nearest [radius]— closest mob, default 32 blocks/possess release
- Spectator support — spectator mode players can possess by right-clicking a mob, no Possession Orb needed.
- Config file — client option to disable the camera override for compatibility with camera mods like Shoulder Surfing.
Changed
- Mounting now only works on things you're meant to ride: tamed horses, saddled pigs/striders/camels, boats, minecarts, and modded vehicles. No more sitting on villagers.
- Modded mounts keep their own vertical movement and receive rider input, giving mount-specific controls a chance to work.
Fixed
- Keybinds didn't appear in Options → Controls and couldn't be rebound — they now show under a "Mob Possession" section
- You could damage the mob you were possessing
- Donkeys were stuck in a standing pose while possessed
- Boat paddles didn't animate while being steered, and you could jump while in a boat
Known issues
- Third-person view (F5) doesn't render the possessed mob. First-person works normally.
