mobhighlight-2.3.0.jar
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
First public release.
Highlights
- Vanilla glow outlines on mobs within a configurable radius - the spectral-arrow kind that hug the model and stay visible through walls.
- Seven auto-sorted default rules (Player / Friendly / Neutral / Hostile / Aquatic / Ambient / Other), each with its own color and on/off switch.
- Custom rules for entities the automatic sorting gets wrong. Two-level entity picking, and removing an entity restores its default category and color.
- In-game configuration screen with five tabs - no file editing required.
- Works with modded mobs. Categories come from tags and
MobCategory, and the entity list is generated from the registry, so modded entities are covered automatically.
- Client-side only, zero Mixin. Safe to use on vanilla servers.
Controls
H- toggle glowing outlines (master switch)
J- open the configuration screen
[/]- decrease / increase the detection radius by 8 blocks
/mobhl- open the config screen; alsotoggle, radius, max, scan, rule, reload, reset, status
Details
- Detection radius default 32 blocks;
maxGlowcaps it at 128 outlines per frame.
- Through-wall display is on by default - that is the vanilla glow behavior at zero extra cost. Turning it off switches to line-of-sight only, capped at 64 raycasts per frame.
- No per-frame world iteration: it reuses vanilla extraction results, which are already frustum- and render-distance culled.
- Settings are written to
config/mobhighlight.jsonimmediately and persist across restarts.
Known limitations
- An entity renderer with no outline variant will throw
IllegalStateException("Can't render an outline for this rendertype!"). If it happens, search the game log forCan't render an outlineand turn that namespace off on the Mod Sources tab.
minecraft:playercannot distinguish you from other players, so "distance to camera below 1 block" is treated as yourself and skipped by default. SetglowSelfto true to outline yourself.
