Two words are used below with a specific meaning.
NON-COMMERCIAL use is use by an individual, or by a group of individuals, that
is not directed toward payment or commercial advantage: playing, learning,
teaching, research, hobby modding, and building things you give away.
COMMERCIAL use is anything else. In particular it includes use by or on behalf
of a business or other organisation; use in producing, developing or supporting
anything you sell, license, or offer for payment; use in a paid service, a paid
course, or work you are paid to do; and use funded by advertising, sponsorship
or subscription revenue that the use contributes to.
If your situation does not obviously fall on one side, it is a question and not a
verdict — see section 2.
1. NON-COMMERCIAL USE — granted to anyone.
You may download, install, run and use the Software for any non-commercial
purpose, with no fee and with no obligation to ask. Within that use, anything you
author is entirely yours: this license places no condition on the mods, assets,
data or worlds you make while using the Software, and no claim on them.
2. COMMERCIAL USE — not granted; ask.
Commercial use requires written permission from the copyright holder. Ask, and
say what you want to do. This is a door, not a wall: it exists so that the author
knows who is building on this and on what terms, not to stop anyone working.
Ask before you start, not after. Permission, once given, is given in writing and
says what it covers.
3. SOURCE AND MODIFICATION — granted.
You may read the source, keep copies of it, fork the repository, and modify the
Software as much as you like for your own non-commercial use.
4. DISTRIBUTION OF A MODIFIED VERSION — granted when it adds something.
You may distribute a modified version of the Software, publicly or privately, if
all of the following hold:
a. It adds substantial new functionality — capability the Software does not
already provide, such that a person would choose your version for something it
does and the Software does not. Rebuilding it, renaming it, bumping its
version, re-hosting it, translating its documentation, changing its
configuration, or making cosmetic or trivial edits is NOT adding
functionality, and a version so changed is covered by section 5, not this one.
b. It is clearly identified as a modified version and not as the Software itself,
by a name that will not be mistaken for it.
c. It carries this license, this copyright notice, and a visible link to the
official repository named above.
d. It is distributed non-commercially, and free of charge. A modified version is
still this Software; sections 1 and 2 travel with it, and so do these terms
for everyone who receives it.
If you are unsure whether your change clears (a), ask. Permission is usually
given, and asking costs less than guessing.
5. REDISTRIBUTION OF THE SOFTWARE ITSELF — not granted.
You may not distribute the Software, or a build of it, to anyone else. In
particular, and without limiting that sentence, you may not upload the mod jar or
the MCP server to a mod-hosting site, a mirror, a file host, a package registry,
an archive, a modpack, or any other place a person could obtain it from you
instead of from the official repository — whether or not you charge for it, and
whether or not you say where it came from.
This is the thing this license is most concerned with. The Software is free for
the people it is for, and always will be; it is simply distributed from one
place, so that what a person downloads is what was actually released, at the
version it claims to be, with the documentation that describes it.

6. BUNDLING WITH YOUR OWN WORK — ask first.
If your project needs to ship the Software alongside it or inside it — a mod that
embeds it, a modpack, a distribution, a container image, a course or a workshop
handing it out — write and ask. This is not a refusal; it is a request to be told,
so that the thing people receive can be a build that still exists and still works.
7. NAME.
"MMCP" and "MCP Toolkit" name this project. Do not use either as the name of a
fork or of a distribution you publish, in a way likely to suggest it is this
project or endorsed by it. Saying accurately that your work is built with, for, or
derived from it is fine and always allowed.
8. NO WARRANTY.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE
LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF
CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE
SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
9. NOT A MOJANG PRODUCT.
This project is not an official Minecraft product. It is not approved by or
associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies
AB. Your use of Minecraft remains governed by Mojang's own terms, which this
license neither grants nor alters.
