Mining Is Hard rebalances the early and mid game to reward cave exploration over endless branch mining and automated farms.
Features (most are configurable)
- Slower rock — stone-type blocks break much slower, so tunneling through rock is no longer the fast path to ore.
- Hungry digging — breaking rock costs extra exhaustion, so long mining sessions require food.
- Rebalanced ores — veins are larger but rarer, with biome-specific hotspots (iron & emerald in mountains, gold in badlands, diamond in the deep dark, and more) to reward exploring different areas.
- No trade farms — villager trading is disabled (wandering traders still work).
- No fished enchants — enchanted books and gear can no longer be fished up.
- Selective spawns — chosen mobs (creeper by default) won't spawn naturally.
Ores, dirt and wood are intentionally unaffected by the mining slowdown.
Everything can be tuned in config/seigtfjell-common.toml.
Requires: NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.10.
Must be installed on both the client and the server.
