Note:

This is a somewhat experimental release. There are actually three mods included in the download, this mod and two APIs required for it to work. This mod has been released primarily to test the functionalities of the two APIs (which are definitely not finished), which will both be released in a much more convenient way at a later time for other modders to use.

This mod attempts to recreate some of the feel of the Star Wars universe in Minecraft. Currently, there are only a few features added by this mod, but it will certainly be expanded upon over time. Most of its features are only accessible late-game (for vanilla).

How to get started:

There are three main things you must collect before you can get started - lapis lazuli, diamonds, and lightsaber crystals. Lightsaber crystals generate in hollow, spherical "nodes" underground and can only be mined using a diamond pickaxe. You will need 9 lapis, 4 diamonds, and 9 lightsaber crystals to build and power your first lightsaber.

The lightsaber:

Got a lightsaber crystal? Great! First you will need to construct a lightsaber handle to put it in. A lightsaber is constructed using the following recipe:

Of course, it is not truly a lightsaber until you've crafted a color crystal into it. Color crystals and focus crystals (along with the various vanilla items that can be used as focuses) can be crafted and uncrafted from your lightsaber freely using any crafting grid.

However, an elegant weapon requires skill to wield...

The holocron:

If it's skill you're after, then you'll need a holocron. Holocrons are filled with knowledge from long ago, and will teach you through holographic simulations. These simulations, more commonly referred to as "challenges", reward you with a single skill point that can be used to advance your knowledge of the Force - but only if you can pass the test. Your first skill point can only be used to unlock the ability to use lightsabers, but your options will grow as your skill develops.

Holocrons are obtained by crafting a block of lapis lazuli surrounded by 8 color crystals. This is a placeholder recipe until I get a better idea of how to acquire holocrons.

Currently, there is only one type of challenge available, the Sith combat challenge.

Force powers:

As you collect more holocrons and unlock their secrets, you will be capable of learning and improving force abilities. Three paths are available to you: neutral, light, and dark. As you invest more skill points into a path, more force powers in that path become unlocked. You are free to rearrange your skill points however you like (this is disabled in hardcore mode by default).

Several force powers are not yet complete (such as Throw Lightsaber), these will be added at a later date.

Also upcoming, the number of skill points you invest in light and dark will affect the costs of those skills (e.g., if you have more force points in light powers than you do in dark powers, your light powers will cost less to cast and your dark powers will cost more - neutral powers will be unaffected).

Familiar with KotOR, Jedi Knight (JK), and/or The Force Unleashed (Unleashed)?

The lightsaber colors and lightsaber modifications are all based on KotOR.

Lightsaber combat plays much like KotOR with blocking like Unleashed, though the goal is to make it as much like JK as possible (WIP).

The force powers available are mostly inspired by KotOR and their usage is inspired by Unleashed and JK. Has Grip from Unleashed.

Crystal nodes are my poor attempt to recreate the feel of crystal caves from KotOR.

The holocrons and their challenges aren't based on any of the games.
