Mine Mine No Mi - BlackBlades

What is this?

You know how in One Piece, swords like Yoru and Shusui turned black after years of battle? This mod adds that to Minecraft. Use a sword long enough with Haki, fight strong enemies, and it'll permanently turn into a Black Blade.

But that's not all - named blades can also awaken as Meito, gaining tiered grades, better Haki synergy, and stronger identity as legendary weapons. Brawlers and Black Leg fighters can also forge their own fists into weapons too. Train hard enough and your bare hands become Black Fists.

Black Blades (Swords)

How it works

To turn a sword into a Black Blade, you need to:

Name it - Give your sword a name at an anvil
Use it - Keep it in your hand for a while (1 hour by default)
Imbue it - Have Busoshoku Haki active while holding it (30 min total)
Fight - Kill 50 enemies with 1500+ doriki while imbuing

Progress tracks in your mainhand, offhand, and mouth slot (for Santoryu users with Cart Addon).

Once you hit all the requirements, your sword transforms. You'll hear the Haki sound, see dark particles, and get a server-wide announcement.

Forged Black Blades can also awaken with a curse. Curses are random by default, making some blades much rarer and more dangerous than others.

What Black Blades do

Always look imbued (dark tint)
+5 attack damage (base)
Built-in Unbreaking V (no enchant glint)
Bypass Logia without needing Haki active
Black sweep attack particles
20% armor penetration
+25% critical hit damage
1.15x damage when Haki is active

Cursed Black Blades

When a sword becomes a Black Blade, it has a chance to awaken with one of three curses:

Curse	What it does
Enma's Hunger	Drains weak wielders over time, but rewards strong Busoshoku control with extra damage
Death Omen	Applies Unluck, attracts nearby monsters, and makes incoming danger worse
Bloodthirst	Punishes staying out of combat, but heals and empowers you after kills

Curses are stored on the blade itself, show up in the tooltip, and can be tested directly with admin commands.

Rank System

Your Black Blade evolves as you keep fighting with it. Kill enough enemies after forging and it ranks up:

Higher ranks also get better crit bonuses. Legendary blades get a server-wide announcement when achieved.

Visual / Tooltip Changes

Black Blade tooltips are cleaner now:

The main Black Blade header always stays visible
Rank, curse info, damage bonuses, and battle stats move into the SHIFT statistics view
Legendary styling uses gold for important visual elements
Curse names and descriptions appear in the expanded tooltip

Meito System

What it is

Meito is the legendary blade grading system for named weapons. Instead of every strong sword being treated the same, eligible blades can awaken through four Meito tiers:

Skillful Grade	Refined named blade with stronger combat bonuses
Great Grade	Rare high-end Meito with strong Haki synergy
Supreme Grade	Top-tier Meito reserved for the strongest weapons

Natural Meito is world-limited, so the rarest grades stay rare instead of every server ending up full of top-tier blades.

How it works

Every eligible weapon gets a hidden Meito potential. By default this comes from the weapon's displayed main-hand attack damage, though canon overrides can force specific swords into the right tier.

To enter natural Meito progression, the blade must be named. Once named, it can awaken and climb one rank at a time until it reaches its hidden potential.

Meito does not jump straight to the final result. A sword with Great or Supreme potential still has to grow through the lower ranks first.

If a natural Meito tier is full, the blade keeps its progress and waits until a world slot opens.

Default trial flow

By default, each promotion uses scaled versions of the Black Blade requirements:

Strong kills use the same strong-enemy logic as Black Blade progression by default, meaning enemies with 1500+ doriki count unless the server owner changes that config.

How to use it

Get an eligible weapon - The blade needs enough attack power to qualify, or a canon override like Wado Ichimonji or Nidai Kitetsu
Name it - Named blades can begin natural Meito progression; unnamed blades will not naturally awaken
Use it in combat - Fight with the blade to build wield time and strong kill progress
Use Haki for higher tiers - Great Grade and Supreme Grade also require Busoshoku Haki imbue time
Promote one step at a time - Each completed trial only raises the blade by one Meito tier
Check the tooltip or /blackblade status - The mod now shows Meito potential, current tier, next trial, and Meito bonuses more clearly

What Meito does

Meito bonuses are tied to the weapon's displayed Meito grade:

Meito also improves the identity of named blades without giving them their own armor penetration system.

If that weapon later becomes a Black Blade, its displayed Meito grade increases by one tier for bonus calculation and presentation, up to Supreme Grade.

Black Fists (Brawler / Black Leg)

How it works

If you're a Brawler or Black Leg fighter, you can forge your fists into weapons. The requirements are similar to Black Blades:

Train - Stay in combat mode with empty hands (1 hour by default)
Imbue - Use Busoshoku Haki while training (30 min total)
Fight - Kill 75 enemies with 1500+ doriki with your bare hands

Once you complete all three, your fists transform into Iron Fists. You'll get particles, sound effects, and a server announcement.

What Black Fists do

+4 unarmed damage (base)
15% armor penetration
+20% critical hit damage
1.2x damage when Haki is active
Mine blocks with bare hands (see below)

Bare-Hand Mining

Black Fist users can mine blocks with their bare hands. Your mining level depends on your rank:

Mining speed is fast - at least 2.5x netherite tool speed. Using Haki while mining doubles it again.

Fist of Love Passive

The "Fist of Love" passive ability shows up for Brawlers and Black Leg fighters. It displays:

Your current rank and bonuses
Training progress (if not yet forged)
Rank progress and kills to next rank (if forged)

It's display-only - the bonuses are always active as long as you meet the requirements.

BlackBlades supports custom textures for weapons from any mod (Cart Addon, EOP Addon, etc.)!

How it works

Other mods' weapons → Keep original appearance unless a resource pack provides custom textures

Zitoen Piece Compatibility (1.16.5 Only)

If Zitoen Piece is installed on 1.16.5, BlackBlades can now take ownership of overlapping grade and black blade behavior by default.

That means:

BlackBlades handles the active sword progression instead of both mods trying to apply their own grade logic
Zitoen's overlapping grade combat bonuses no longer stack on top of BlackBlades when BlackBlades is set as main
Zitoen black blade progression no longer competes with BlackBlades while compatibility mode is enabled
A config toggle lets you hand control back to Zitoen Piece if you want its native behavior instead

Notes

Black Blades can be traded/given to other players
The owner name is stored on the sword
Curses are stored on the blade and stay with it when traded
Natural Meito progression is stored on the blade and respects world-limited tier pools
Black Blades display one Meito tier higher than their underlying base Meito grade
Receiving a blade from another player grants the "Inheritor" advancement
Server leaderboard persists across restarts
Black Fist data is stored on the player (not an item)
Both systems track detailed stats: kills, damage, crits, boss kills, and Meito progression data
Black Blade and Black Fist text now supports lang-file translation
