Most Minecraft players find the Wandering Trader to be a slight nuisance. However! Merchants changes things!

Merchants! introduces a new villager profession that has a new craftable workspace, called the Merchants Barrel. When a villager chooses a Merchant to be their profession, they change to a merchant-like outfit and buff out their trades, taking a bunch of items that the player needs for progression and selling them for emeralds. In addition, a new item is added, called the Merchant's Token, which is a valuable, and expensive item, that increases luck to 100.

This not only adds a new way to get rare or important items, but it creates a use for emeralds, your gonna need them to trade, right now emeralds are the only payment type.

Not only that, but a new structure called the Merchant's Shop can spawn in deserts and badlands, which is semi-rare, spawning every few thousand blocks.

However, the merchant isnt just a friendly salesman, when killed in his shop, he will become an incredibly aggressive and undead version of his old self, transforming into a mini boss of sorts that shoots a new kind of cursed fireball that has some, suprising power. But, in reward for killing him, you get a new variation of the Merchants Token called the Cursed Merchants Token, which grants the player more advanced powers via potion effects.
