MCA Legacy: Reawakened

A modern social, family and villager-life overhaul for Minecraft 1.12.2, inspired by Minecraft Comes Alive Reborn.

MCA Legacy: Reawakened

MCA Legacy: Reawakened brings a modern Minecraft Comes Alive-style experience back to Minecraft 1.12.2.

It expands vanilla villagers into persistent people with identities, appearances, personalities, relationships, families, inventories, jobs, moods and their own social lives while retaining the underlying vanilla EntityVillager for compatibility with Minecraft 1.12.2's trading and village systems.

This is an unofficial GPLv3 derivative/backport project. It is not an official release of Minecraft Comes Alive or MCA Reborn.

👥 Villagers with Identity

Vanilla villagers are given persistent MCA-style identities including:

  • Human names
  • Gender and pronouns
  • Personality
  • Human appearance
  • Skin, face, hair and clothing
  • Profession
  • Persistent life and family records
  • Genetic appearance traits

Villagers remain vanilla villagers internally, allowing normal 1.12.2 trading and village behavior to continue working.

❤️ Relationships & Romance

Build relationships with villagers through:

  • Chatting
  • Jokes
  • Compliments
  • Flirting
  • Gifting
  • Personality-dependent responses
  • Mood-dependent reactions

Relationships track:

  • Familiarity
  • Affection
  • Romance
  • Gifts
  • Trust

Villagers remember their relationships persistently.

Players can marry villagers, divorce, have children and build multi-generational families.

🎁 Gifting

Gifts are treated as social interactions rather than inventory transfers.

Each villager has their own likes and dislikes, influenced by personality.

Repeatedly giving the same gift has diminishing returns, preventing gift-spamming exploits.

Gifted items are consumed and do not enter the villager's personal inventory.

😊 Moods & Personality

Villagers can experience persistent moods such as:

  • Neutral
  • Content
  • Happy
  • Tired
  • Sad
  • Anxious
  • Angry
  • Grieving

Mood affects dialogue, romance and social interactions.

Major life events matter. Marriage can make villagers happy, divorce can cause sadness, and the death of close family members can cause prolonged grief.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Autonomous Villager Social Lives

Villagers are not limited to interacting with the player.

Nearby villagers can:

  • Talk to one another
  • Become friends
  • Build or lose affinity
  • Develop romance
  • Fall in love
  • Propose
  • Marry
  • Have children
  • Become widowed
  • Recover and remarry

Personality compatibility and mood affect how these relationships develop.

Close family relationships are recognized and prevented from developing romantic relationships.

👶 Families & Children

The mod contains a persistent family system supporting:

  • Player ↔ Villager marriage
  • Player ↔ Player marriage
  • Villager ↔ Villager marriage
  • Children
  • Parents
  • Siblings
  • Grandparents
  • Extended family
  • Former spouses
  • Late spouses
  • Remarriage

NPC couples can naturally become pregnant and have children of their own.

Children inherit appearance traits from both parents and grow through:

Baby → Child → Adult

Adult children remain the same person in the genealogy system rather than becoming unrelated villagers.

🌳 Family Tree

The built-in genealogy viewer supports large multi-generational families.

Features include:

  • Parent/spouse/child relationships
  • Extended-family relationship labels
  • Deceased family members
  • Former and late spouses
  • Pan and zoom
  • Family-member selection
  • Re-rooting the tree around another relative
  • Direct interaction with nearby family members

Deaths do not erase villagers from history.

💀 Death, Widowhood & Remarriage

When an MCA villager dies, their genealogy record remains.

Their family tree marks them as deceased and surviving spouses become widowed.

Widowed villagers are free to eventually fall in love and marry again without deleting their previous spouse or family history.

🎒 Personal Villager Inventories

Each villager has a persistent 27-slot personal inventory.

Villagers can use items stored inside it, including:

  • Armor
  • Weapons
  • Shields
  • Tools
  • Work resources
  • Food and materials

Adults automatically equip useful equipment from their inventory.

Inventory access is protected.

Players automatically receive access to their spouse and their own grown children. Other villagers can grant access after developing sufficient Familiarity and Affection with that player.

Permissions are stored per player, making the system multiplayer-safe.

🏡 Home, Workplace & Commands

Villagers can be given persistent locations and commands including:

  • Follow Me
  • Stay Here
  • Move Freely
  • Set Home
  • Go Home
  • Set Workplace
  • Go to Work

Home and workplace locations persist between restarts.

🛠️ Work & Chores

Villagers can follow daily work schedules and perform actual jobs.

Supported work roles include:

  • Farmer
  • Miner
  • Lumberjack
  • Fisher
  • Cook
  • Librarian
  • Cleric
  • Smith

Villagers use tools and materials from their own inventory and produced resources are stored there.

Examples include harvesting crops, mining exposed ores, chopping logs, fishing, cooking food, creating books, healing villagers and repairing equipment.

World-changing chores respect mobGriefing.

🔧 Modded 1.12.2 Compatibility

The work system is designed for modded Minecraft 1.12.2.

Compatibility includes Forge and Ore Dictionary-aware detection for:

  • Modded crops
  • Seeds
  • Ores
  • Stone variants
  • Logs
  • Tools
  • Food
  • Fish
  • Repair materials

Registry allowlists and denylists are available for mods with unusual block implementations.

There are no required crop, technology or farming mods.

🧬 Appearance & Genetics

Villagers use a layered MCA-style human renderer with:

  • Skin
  • Face
  • Hair
  • Clothing
  • Masculine/feminine body differences
  • Child models
  • Genetic body variation

Children inherit appearance traits from their parents with small genetic variation.

💬 MCA Interaction Interface

Right-clicking a villager opens a dedicated interaction interface containing:

  • Talk
  • Relationship
  • Trade
  • Inventory
  • Commands
  • Family
  • Looks

Vanilla trading remains available through the Trade page.
