What's new
MCA Bewitchment Compat 1.0.2 — MCA Reborn Compatibility & Persistence Update
MCA Reborn 7.7.1-alpha.2 Compatibility
- Updated the addon to support the new internal package structure introduced in MCA Reborn 7.7.1-alpha.2 for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Updated references to MCA classes affected by the package changes, including
VillagerEntityMCAandAgeState. - Fixed startup crashes caused by the addon still referencing classes from the previous MCA Reborn package structure.
Transformed Villager Persistence
- Added persistent storage for MCA villagers while they are transformed into Bewitchment vampires or werewolves.
- Transformed villagers can now safely survive server restarts, world reloads and unexpected shutdowns without losing their original MCA data.
- The original villager's NBT and identity are preserved until the MCA villager has been successfully restored.
- Added safeguards so persistent backup data is not deleted if restoration fails.
Death & Tombstone Fixes
- Fixed transformed MCA villagers not being properly processed by MCA when their vampire/werewolf form dies.
- Fatal damage to a transformed villager is now transferred back to the original
VillagerEntityMCA, allowing MCA's native death system to handle the death. - Fixed dead villagers being immediately transformed back into vampires/werewolves during the night.
- Added validation preventing dead, removed or otherwise invalid MCA villagers from being selected for transformation.
- Added integration with MCA's native
GraveyardManagerso graves assigned by MCA are correctly detected, including graves located away from the exact death position. - Added a safe MCA tombstone fallback when MCA does not provide a usable grave.
- Added duplicate-grave protection so the fallback does not create another tombstone when MCA has already assigned one.
- Transformed villagers stored in MCA tombstones remain compatible with MCA's resurrection mechanics.
MCA Relationship & Data Preservation Fixes
- Improved preservation of MCA relationship, family and memory data when reconstructing a villager from its transformed state.
- Improved NBT handling when restoring
VillagerEntityMCAinstances. - Added additional UUID and entity-state safeguards during restoration and death processing.
- Fixed issues encountered during transformed-villager death/resurrection testing where relationship heart values could become invalid.
Diagnostics
- Added detailed diagnostic logging for transformed MCA villagers.
- Diagnostic logs can track UUIDs, family relationships, relationship state, player memories, heart values and important transformation/death/restoration stages.
- This is intended to make future compatibility issues with MCA Reborn significantly easier to diagnose.
Important MCA Reborn Version Notice
This update targets MCA Reborn 7.7.1-alpha.2 for Minecraft 1.20.1 and its new internal code/package structure.
At the time this update was published, MCA Reborn 7.7.1-alpha.2 is available on Modrinth, while CurseForge still lists MCA Reborn 7.7.0-beta.2 as the latest available MCA Reborn release for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Because of the internal changes between these MCA versions, MCA Bewitchment Compat 1.0.2 is intended for the newer 7.7.1-alpha.2-compatible MCA codebase.
Users who remain on MCA Reborn 7.7.0-beta.2 should continue using the previous compatible version of MCA Bewitchment Compat.
The newer MCA Reborn build may also be published on CurseForge later.
