Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Maps and Quills 0.1.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge)
Requires Holdfast Factions. Joins 0.1.4 servers and clients, so players can update in their own time.
Fixes
- A disbanded faction no longer leaves its map behind. Explored ground, map shares, faction drawings and the faction's web link were all filed under the faction's name, so a new faction that took the name inherited every bit of it, including the old faction's private plans. When a faction disbands, all of that is now retired straight away. Old drawings stay in the history but no faction map shows them again.
- A renamed faction keeps its map. Explored ground, shares and faction drawings move to the new name. (Holdfast Factions has no rename command yet; this is ready for when it does.) On first start this version also tidies up after factions that disbanded under older versions.
- An open map stopped asking the server for dark ground over and over. Ground your faction has not explored, or that nobody has mapped yet, was asked for again every 15 seconds for as long as the map stayed open. Each unanswered ask now waits twice as long as the last, up to four minutes. Ground right around you is still checked every 15 seconds, so what you walk through appears as quickly as before.
- Servers now cap how fast one player can ask for map pictures, so a misbehaving client cannot make the server read terrain from disk as fast as it can send packets. Normal map use never comes near the limit.
- The map's memory on your computer is now capped at about 40 MB. Before, it kept every piece of ground you had ever seen until you left the server. The cap is well above what the map can show at once, so nothing on screen is ever dropped.
Thanks to Xmat5 for all five.
