What's new

Maps and Quills 0.1.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge)

First public release. Requires Easy Factions.

Your faction's map

  • One map shared by your whole faction: waypoints, drawings and plans show up for every member a moment after they are made.
  • Share your entire map with another faction with /maq share <faction>, and take it back with /maq unshare. Leaders and officers only; one way; the other faction is told.
  • Everything is saved on the server, in the world save, so updating your modpack never wipes anyone's map or waypoints.

Waypoints

  • Pin a place on the map, or press "Mark the spot you are on" where you stand.
  • Every place shows out in the world with its badge, name and distance. Range and how many show at once are in the client config.
  • Places have a kind: Tavern, Shop, Outpost, Landmark, Road, Danger, Quest, each with its own colour and symbol, and the legend switches each on or off.

Drawing

  • Eight tools: Place, Text, Line, Arrow, Box, Circle, Freehand and an Eraser, each with its own key and its own Minecraft style icon.
  • Six colours, three line weights, a label on anything, and Ctrl+Z to take back your last mark.
  • Choose who sees each mark: your faction, only you, or submitted for the whole server.
  • Switch between the Faction map, the Global map, or both, with the chip at the top of the map or the V key.
  • Hover over any mark to see what it is, who drew it and whose map it belongs to.

The map

  • Any map, empty or drawn, crafts into a Faction Map on its own.
  • Keep the Faction Map in your hotbar: the minimap, waypoints in the world, pings and the map key all need it there.
  • Open the map by right-clicking the Faction Map, or with M while it is in your hotbar.
  • A minimap in the corner, square or round.
  • Every dimension has its own map. Flip the full map to another dimension with the chip at the top or the D key.
  • Easy Factions claims and MineColonies colonies as separate layers, with realm names fitted to their land and markers on faction seats and town halls.

In the browser

  • Built for servers with a website: connected to one, the map, place submissions, lore and approvals live there too.
  • No website? Turn on [webmap] in the config and /maq map gives you a private link to your map in the browser, filtered exactly as in game. Links expire (an hour by default) and /maq map revoke ends them early.

Pings

  • Tap middle mouse to ping where you are looking; hold it for a wheel with Here, Danger, Rally and Supplies.
  • Pings show out in the world and on the map, go to your faction only, fade after a few seconds, and are rate limited. /maq mute stops a player's pings reaching you.

Admins

  • /maq pending, /maq approve and /maq reject for submitted places, with the author told either way.
  • /maq debug and /maq perf to check what is wired up and what the map costs.
  • Every command also works as /warpaint.
