Maintenance

A Vanilla-Friendly Mod, that adds new mechanic to your daily world!

A vanilla-friendly maintenance system for Minecraft. Existing vanilla blocks gradually wear down through normal use — and they need an occasional repair to keep working.

No new machines. No new dimensions. No tech tree. Just the classic loop:

> Use → Wear → Inspect → Repair → Continue using

How it works

Every supported block — furnaces, blast furnaces, smokers, brewing stands, hoppers, dispensers and droppers — has a condition from 100% to 0% that decreases with each use: every smelt, every brew, every item transferred.

- 🥽 Maintenance Goggles — wear them and look at a block to see its condition on a clean, vanilla-style HUD. Green above 66%, yellow down to 33%, red below — plus a `Repaired: N` count and a measured wear rate (`â–¼ %/min`) while the block is in use.

- 🔧 Wrench — right-click a damaged block to repair it. Each use restores a chunk of condition and costs durability, so the wrench breaks like any other tool.

- 🔔 Feedback — when a block hits 0%, it lets out a distinct metallic clunk and stops working until you repair it. No custom models, no retextured blocks — the vanilla blocks stay vanilla.

## Balanced by default, configurable to taste

Degradation is meant to feel meaningful, not annoying — you won't be repairing a furnace every few minutes. Everything is configurable in `config/maintenance-server.toml`:

- Casual / Normal / Hard presets for overall degradation speed

- Per-block wear rates, low-condition thresholds, and behavior at 0% (`stops working`, `breaks and drops itself`, or just a numeric indicator)

- Repair amount and wrench durability cost

Modpack creators can tune every block individually, or disable blocks entirely.

## Vanilla-friendly by design

- Uses only vanilla blocks — nothing is replaced or retextured

- Vanilla-style tool durability, sounds, particles and HUD styling

- Lightweight: no dependencies beyond NeoForge

- One player understands the whole mod in a few minutes

Roadmap

The block system is built to expand — more vanilla blocks, modded block compatibility, and deeper diagnostics are all on the table as the mod grows.
