Overview

Magical Girl is a combat-content mod centered on a multi-phase Magical Girl boss fight. It also exposes the boss's attacks as player-castable spells. The mod combines the Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks magic system, Curios equipment slots, TaCZ firearms, and Superb Warfare ordnance.

The current project contains no recipes or normal loot tables. Obtain its items and available spell scrolls primarily from the Magical Girl Creative Mode tab.

Boss fight

  • The Magical Girl Spawn Egg creates the boss in a sealed state.
  • A player with permission level 2 or higher can run /magicalgirl start to release the nearest boss within 128 blocks and begin the fight.
  • The fight has three combat phases: Phase 1 (5,000 HP), Phase 2 (10,000 HP), and Final Phase (30,000 HP). Depleting a phase triggers a transition; the boss starts the next phase at full health.
  • Its attack set changes by phase, combining nature magic, arcane attacks, phantom and ravager summons, gunfire, and chemical hazards. Normal attacks become more frequent when more players participate.
  • The boss has a custom model, animations, phase-specific boss bars, dialogue, aerial movement, and bullet resistance. It cannot take damage during non-combat cinematic states.
  • After the final phase, the defeat and flashback sequence plays. Once it ends, the configured data-pack function is executed exactly once.

Player spells

All spells belong to the custom Magical Girl school. Spell levels improve damage, area, projectile count, or summon count as appropriate. Targeted spells acquire an aimed target at a maximum range of 48 blocks.

Stellar / control Diamond Spinner Launches a spinning entity that tracks its target.
Stellar / control Ribbon Judgement Summons a ribbon attack that pursues the target; upgraded at high levels.
Stellar / control Rune Cage Creates an offensive magic cage at the target's position.
Chemical / hazard Chemical Field Creates a persistent damage field at the aimed point.
Chemical / hazard Basic Hazard / Toxic Hazard / Final Hazard Persistent telegraphed area attacks; higher tiers are larger and stronger.
Chemical / hazard Yellow Ignition Creates a large ignition zone.
Chemical / hazard Radiation Creates a large radiation zone.
Lightning / grand magic Ground Lightning Sends lightning along the ground from the caster to the target.
Lightning / grand magic Colored Lightning Storm Calls down several colored lightning strikes around the aimed point.
Lightning / grand magic Magic Mirror Combines phantom summons with Stella Burst.
Lightning / grand magic Grand Spell Nova Creates a large magical detonation at the aimed point.
Nature Root Lance Produces a line of attacks along the ground in front of the caster.
Nature Bloom Circle Deals area damage around the aimed point.
Nature Ivy Bind Deals area damage and suppresses movement and jumping.
Nature Petal Gale Damages and pushes enemies in a forward cone.
Nature Sakura Rain Rains petals over a wide damage area.
Nature Grand Blossom Causes a very large, high-damage blossom explosion.
Gun / ordnance Lock-on Burst Fires several tracking magic bullets at a target.
Gun / ordnance Reaction Bullet Creates a chemical field and explosion at the target.
Gun / ordnance Injection Needle Fires multiple needles at the target from around the caster.
Gun / ordnance Magic Bullet Rain Rains magic bullets from above the aimed point.
Gun / ordnance Summoned Arsenal Surrounds the caster with floating TaCZ guns that fire at the target.
Gun / ordnance Mine Scatter Places Superb Warfare mines around the aimed point.
Gun / ordnance Emergency Execution Combines floating guns, bullet rain, a chemical field, and a large explosion.
Summon / movement Phantom Ride Temporarily summons a controllable phantom mount. Recasting replaces the existing mount.
Summon / movement Phantom Swarm Summons several phantoms that attack the target.
Summon / movement Ravager Raid Summons a ravager and a vindicator squad against the target.
Summon / movement Blink Teleports the caster behind the target.
Wind Magical Twister Creates a persistent magical tornado at the aimed point.

Summoned Arsenal, Mine Scatter, and Emergency Execution are registered and usable as spells, but their standalone scrolls are intentionally hidden from the Creative tab.

Equipment and items

Item Function
Magical Girl Wand Permanently contains Stella Burst Lv.1. While held in the main hand: +50% spell power and +50% cooldown reduction.
Grimoire of Starlight Legendary 24-slot spellbook. While equipped as a Curio: +500 max mana, +50% cooldown reduction, +50% cast-time reduction, and +100% Magical Girl spell power.
Starlight Ring While equipped as a Curio: +200% mana regeneration and 25% lower mana cost for Magical Girl spells.
Phantom Pact Ring While equipped as a Curio: +50% summon damage and 50% longer duration for this mod's summons.
Rainbow Dew Ring While equipped as a Curio: +20% spell resistance and a 20% chance for any spell to cost half its normal mana.
Starlight armor set Tiara, Magical Dress, Skirt, and Long Boots. Each piece grants +50 max mana, +5% spell power, and +3% cooldown reduction. Repairable with amethyst shards.
Magic Safety Anchor Protects a 6.5-block radius for 45 seconds. It removes hazards and compatible magic projectiles, extinguishes players, and grants Resistance II plus Fire Resistance. It has an 8-second item cooldown and consumes one item outside Creative Mode.

Bonuses from multiple items are combined according to Minecraft and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks attribute rules.

Administrator commands

All commands require permission level 2 or higher and affect the nearest boss within 128 blocks.

  • start: Starts a boss fight from its sealed or waiting state.
  • remove: Removes the boss and temporary entities created by it.
  • debug_attack: Forces a selected attack for development and testing. Available attack IDs are provided through in-game completion.

Server configuration

The magicalGirl section of the server configuration provides these options:

  • endFunction: Function ID executed once after the flashback. Defaults to magicalgirl:magical_girl/end; set it to an empty string to disable it.
  • particleInterval, hazardParticleInterval: Update intervals for standard and hazard particles.
  • anchorCheckInterval: Player-protection check interval for Magic Safety Anchors.
  • maxPhase3Projectiles: Maximum queued projectile count during the final phase.
  • maxFloatingGuns: Maximum number of floating guns.
  • lightningRenderLayers, lightningRenderBranches: Lightning rendering layer and branch counts.
