What's new
Changelog — Magic Blocks 1.0.97 → 1.0.118
World Regeneration (Beta)
New structures from Magic Blocks now also appear in areas you have already explored, not only in new chunks. This covers the Goblin Village, the Alpha Arena and the Chosen One's Flower.
Each structure is applied to an old area only once. Future updates will only add what is new and will never re-apply older structures.
There is no chance of it destroying builds. Nothing is ever placed within 100 blocks of a player build:
- any block placed by a player blocks the area;
- any spot where a player has spent more than 1 minute is protected, which also covers builds made before this update;
- every column is scanned for building blocks, and for chests and other containers down to 16 blocks below the ground;
- if the whole area is not loaded, it waits instead of guessing.
Natural structures nearby also block it, so new structures appear less often in old areas.
New command (operator): /magicblocks regenerate on | off. Use /magicblocks regenerate on its own to see the current state. It starts on, is saved per world, and when turned back on it resumes where it stopped.
New command (operator): /magicblocks structure safetest false shows whether a village could appear where you stand and, if not, what blocks it.
Goblins
Added Goblins: 1.5 blocks tall, with big heads, red eyes, long ears and leather aprons. They open doors, never fall for trapdoor traps and break dirt, wood and leaves in their way.
Goblin classes:
- Warrior: sword, always charges in front;
- Archer: bow or Goblin Blowpipe, which poisons;
- Mage: Ancestral Staff with fire, water, leaf or sculk, and keeps its distance;
- Rogue: hood and two daggers, uses the spinning attack;
- Smith;
- Shaman.
Goblins can wear armor (except helmets) and have 30 health. Monsters attack them (except creepers) and they fight back. They never hurt each other.
Goblins drop Wooden Coins, sometimes Mana Soup and a Goblin Ear.
Added Goblin trading. Transformed into a goblin with the Soul Mirror, or once you have the goblins' respect, click a goblin to open its shop. Each class sells items related to its trade, paid in Wooden Coins.
Added the goblin duel. Shift + click a goblin to challenge it; when it surrenders, you earn the respect of all goblins forever. With respect, goblins trade with you and only attack if you attack first.
The Shaman levels up as you trade with it. It sells charged Mana Orbs, Condensation Orbs, the Mana Battery and the Mana Star.
Goblin Village
Added the Goblin Village in savannas and taigas: 5 to 12 huts with 1 to 3 goblins each, paths, Mana Mushroom farms, Mana Trees and Ancestral Trees.
Every village has a Smith's house, a Shaman's house and the Goblin King's Hall.
Village pieces never overlap, and houses get foundations down to the real ground.
Added the Mana Mushroom: it glows, grows only on grass and spreads to nearby blocks.
Added Mana Soup (3 Mana Mushrooms + a bowl): restores 6 mana, stacks to 16 and is eaten twice as fast.
Bosses and Creatures
Added the Goblin King, a bulky boss with a gold crown, a fur collar and a cape. Every attack is warned in green on the ground: Combo, Ground Fissure, War Cry (buffs goblins and calls 2 warriors) and more.
The Goblin King never dies. When defeated he goes home, lies down for 5 minutes and gets up healed. He walks freely around his village.
His boss bar shows when a player is within 24 blocks. Click him to open the challenge screen for a one-on-one duel.
The Goblin King drops the Goblin King Greatsword on the first defeat (15% after that). It is a two-handed weapon and disables your offhand.
Added the Ork: a 5-block green giant that spawns day and night in forests, plains, savannas and taigas. It breaks leaves in its way.
Ork attacks, all warned first: Roar (pushes you away), Stomp wave (jump over it), Smash, Leap, Charge, Axe Sweep and Boulder Throw.
Added the Ork Axe (5% drop): 40 damage, twice as slow as a stone axe, and it fells a whole tree at once.
Added Werewolves: they spawn rarely at night, and much more often on full moons. They walk hunched and run on all fours. Attacks are marked in red first: Claw, Charge and Ground Slam.
Added the Alpha Werewolf boss (420 health): bigger, with a silver mane and two iron daggers. It howls at half health.
The Alpha lives in a hidden den in giant pine and spruce taigas, or in an open-air arena in savannas. It never strays far and returns home after 3 minutes without a target.
Added the Crawler, a secret creature of the Void. It watches from far away and vanishes when you get close. If you look at it, it may roar and charge at you. It climbs walls and screams to poison you if you fly. When it catches you, it gives you a full-screen jumpscare.
Added the Mimic: it disguises itself as Magic Blocks creatures, then bursts into a mirror monster with blade arms. Its attacks are marked in silver. It drops Soul Mirror Shards.
The Wandering Master now has 2000 health and fights back.
Golems now have 500 health (was 350).
The Devourer spawns much less often in Void biomes.
All boss animations are smoother and heavier: Elemental Golem, Colossal Emerald, Sun Guardian, Void Leviathan and Fractured Colossus.
Fixed a server crash during the Sun Guardian's lightning storm.
Camp
Added the Camp, a rare structure in plains with tents, a campfire and supplies.
The Wandering Master teaches Target Lock for a True Block. Press Z to lock the camera on a creature within 32 blocks; it releases past 40 blocks.
Added the Hunter at the camp. It trades each Goblin Ear for 2 to 4 Silver Coins and has its own shop.
Werewolf Transformation
Added the Alpha Amulet (10% drop from the Alpha; otherwise it drops the Broken Alpha Amulet, which can be repaired with a Mana Stone).
Wear the amulet as a necklace (Curios) or in the chest slot, or embed it in a chestplate. Right click swaps it with your chestplate like armor.
The amulet binds to the first player who wears it, only works for them and is kept on death.
Hold Shift + right click with an empty hand to transform, with a full transformation animation.
While transformed:
- you take 50% less damage and deal 25% more;
- you get Speed I, Night Vision, 1 extra step height and +1 block of reach;
- you are 2.4 blocks tall, and crouching lets you pass 2-block gaps;
- you have your own dodge, alternate attacks with both hands and keep your held items in your claws;
- it costs 1 mana every 15 seconds.
Added the Werewolf skill tree at the Mastery Table, with Lunge, Ground Slam, Howl, Rend and Scent. A button switches between the normal and Alpha forms.
Werewolf ability cooldowns are shown next to the dodge cooldown.
A Fury aura appears with daggers in Fury or while Howl is active.
Dye + amulet at a crafting table changes the werewolf's eye color and the amulet's gem.
Added the Werewolf Glove (G C C / G C _ / G C C, Claws and Wolf Pelt): a dual-wield weapon worn on your hand, in first and third person.
Added Wolf Armor (Wolf Pelt): protects like iron, each piece speeds up the dodge cooldown, and the helmet is a wolf head. It can be dyed.
Soul Mirror
Added the Soul Mirror. Craft the inactive mirror from 8 Soul Mirror Shards around a slimeball, then awaken it in a ritual.
Every creature you defeat for the first time gives you its soul. Press ' to open the forms screen and become that creature.
Forms cost mana based on the creature's health, and many keep their traits: flying, wall climbing, water breathing, burning in the sun.
Hold left click with an empty hand to use the creature's power: the creeper explodes, the enderman teleports, the blaze shoots and more.
While transformed into a monster, monsters and goblins leave you alone until you hit them. Bosses always attack.
As a goblin you show your armor and held items.
Bat and bee forms have the mob's max health.
The Soul Mirror works from your inventory and is kept on death.
Added the Soul Mirror skill tree at the Mastery Table.
Skill Trees and Attributes
Added skill trees at the Mastery Table: click it with a Magic Block in hand. Three branches (Damage, Range, Economy) lead to Supreme Mastery.
Magic Blocks and the amulet now level up with use, giving points for their trees.
Skill trees only open at the Mastery Table. The portable Mastery Codex keeps the action toggles.
Attributes (K) go up to 100 points each, with balanced gains per point.
Mana Storage
Added a mana-powered storage network, with a nature look (living wood, moss, roots and glowing sap):
- Mana Controller: runs on nature energy and shows, searches and handles all stored items;
- Mana Crafting Controller (Ritual Altar): adds a 3x3 grid that uses network items and supports JEI's "+" button;
- Mana Reader: holds up to 4 Condensation Orbs;
- Condensation Orbs (1k, 4k, 16k and 64k items, any number of item types): the recipes are now more expensive;
- Network Cable: connects the network and carries nature energy.
Click any network block with a dye to color the whole network.
Gems
Added socketable gems, made in the Nature Infuser from a Diamond:
- Fire Ruby: +2 damage and sets the target on fire;
- Frost Sapphire: slows the target;
- Thunder Topaz: chance of a shock;
- Void Onyx: less damage taken;
- Life Jade: +4 max health;
- Arcane Amethyst: +2 max mana;
- Sunstone: +6% speed.
Added the Gem Bench to socket gems. Weapons and staffs have 2 sockets and armor pieces have 1.
Added the Solar Gauntlet, made with Sunsteel and the Light Heart. It has 5 sockets and is worn on your hand, in first and third person. With 5 different gems it unleashes Infinite Power.
New Dimension: The Primordial Forge
Added the Primordial Forge. Throw a Light Heart into the lava of the Forge's furnace to open the portal.
It is a flat world full of ore veins from every installed mod, with a giant collapsing sun in the sky.
Added Ember Heart Ore. The Ember Heart smelts 40 items in a furnace.
Mana
Added the Mana Totem of Undying (Ritual Altar). With 10 mana it saves you from death, has a 1-minute cooldown and is never used up.
The Mana Totem in the Nature Infuser soulbinds an item, so it stays with you on death.
Totems of Undying, normal and Mana, work from the Curios charm slot.
Added the Chosen One's Flower: a rare 2-block flower found in forests.
- It binds to the first player who picks it up.
- A Mana Well in the 5x5 around it fills its owner's mana from any distance, using 6x more energy.
- It keeps chunks loaded.
- Monsters hunt it, and if it dies, its owner dies too.
Added the Orb Pouch: holds 3 Mana Orbs, and their mana is used straight from the pouch (Curios belt slot or inventory).
Added the Mana Battery and the Mana Cable. The battery stores 20 mana and charges from the Mana Well.
XP to mana conversion now costs 4x more.
Weapons and Items
Added ore daggers: copper, iron, gold, lapis, redstone, emerald, amethyst, quartz, diamond and netherite. They are dual-wield but have no Fury.
Added the Chaos Blades skin: a Chaos Blade with a Chain in the Nature Infuser.
Added the Purple Sculk Block: a Sculk Block with a Lily Pad in the Nature Infuser. It has sunglasses, a purple Sonic Boom and a purple Warden.
Added Solar Wings (Ritual Altar): glide like an elytra with no durability loss, and R gives a boost.
Added the Glowing Wing, a drop of the Glow Moth.
Added the Soul Pearl: it pulls your grave from the Corpse mod to you, even across dimensions.
Added the Spawner Upgrade: Dormant (Smooth Stone + Soul Sand in the Nature Infuser): mobs spawn with no AI and no sound.
The Arcane Crown can be worn in the Curios head slot and shows the locked target's health.
The Structure Compass and Biome Compass have their own textures and show the target's distance above the hotbar.
Leviathan Armor makes you swim faster.
Void Ore now drops 1 Void Nugget (up to 2 with Fortune); 9 nuggets make a Void Shard.
The Training Dummy can no longer die.
The Void
Void air now deals 25% of your max health every 20 seconds.
Each void-resistant armor piece blocks 25% of void damage, and pieces from different sets can be mixed. A full set makes you immune.
Mod Support
Tinkers' Construct: added Sunsteel and Void Metal (Molten Void + Molten Abyssal Crystal) as tool and armor materials.
Silent Gear: added Sunsteel.
Achievements
Added 32 achievements in their own tab, including a few hidden ones.
