Magic and Mages

Gain mana, craft a mana staff, and craft some scrolls and mage hats to use spells!

Welcome to Magic and Mages! A very simple magic mod and the first fully-developed mod I've made with MCreator! Use mana to create spells in the form of scrolls and mage hats and use a mana staff to wield them!

Mana

Created from smelting either Amethyst Shards or Bottles O' Enchanting in a Furnace, Mana is used as ammo for your Mana Staff and Mana Shields to cast spells.

Mana Staff

First, craft a Block of Mana with nine Mana in a Crafting Table. Second, craft a Mana Staff. This is the main tool of the mod that lets you cast a variety of spells with a 200 tick cooldown depending on which scroll or mage hat you have and it can be enchanted with two custom enchantments.

Enchantments

This mod adds two enchantments for the Mana Staff, Mana Regenerating and Quick Cast. Both of these enchantments are treasure enchantments and can be found in loot tables or by trading with Librarian Villagers.

Mana Regeneration allows Mana to not be used up by the Mana Staff. This does not apply when using the Recall Scroll or Mage Hat (which takes up nine Mana per use). This enchantment is incompatible with Mending.

Quick Cast reduces the cooldown of the Mana Staff. This enchantment has five levels with the fifth level ridding the Mana Staff of a cooldown.

Other enchantments include spells that you can only enchant on an Enchanted Netherite Sword via the Alchemy Table.

Scrolls, Mage Hats, and Mana Shields

These are the backbone of the mod and contain many spells.

First, you need a scroll upgrade for the spell of your choosing. This is crafted with seven Mana and a variety of different ingredients depending on what spell you want. I highly recommend using JEI to see all of the recipes you can make. Once you have a scroll upgrade, combine that, a piece of Paper, and one Mana (in that order) in a Smithing Table to obtain a scroll. Place the scroll into your off-hand and use the Mana Staff in your main-hand to cast spells.

Mage Hats are an upgrade to scrolls and can be placed on your head. To create one, first craft a Mage Hat Upgrade using seven Mana, a Block of Mana, and a Diamond. Then, craft a Mage Hat using three Mana and a Diamond. Lastly, combine the Mage Hat Upgrade, the Mage Hat, and a scroll of your choice (in that order) in the Smithing Table to your spell onto the Mage Hat.

This is an unintended consequence, but you can hold a scroll in your off-hand and wear a Mage Hat at the same time to duel-wield spells.

Mana Shields are an upgrade to Mage Hats that only work when in your off-hand and takes up mana when used. To create one, first do the normal shield recipe but replace the wooden planks with Mana and the Iron Ingot with a Netherite Ingot to make a regular Mana Shield. Then, create a Mana Shield upgrage in the Crafting Table by placing a Mage Hat Upgrade in the middle, surrounding it with 7 Mana, and finally placing a Netherite Ingot at the top. Lastlty, combine a Mage Hat of your choice with a Mana Shield and a Mana Shield Upgrade in the Smithing Table.

Please note that spells with a positive effect can be used on other living enties except when it comes to Mana Shields. It's main use is for support when playing with friends.

Potion of Mana Regeneration

Tired of getting a 1:1 ratio when smelting for Mana? Try brewing your Amethyst Shards or Bottles O' Enchanting instead! When brewed with Awkward Potions, it'll yield Potions of Mana Regeneration. When drunk, you'll get up to 32 mana. Splash potions and tipped arrows will yield slightly less Mana. (I have not tested it out with a lingering potion yet.)

Enchanted Netherite

By combining Netherite with Blocks of Mana in a Crafting Table, you'll get a new tier of ore called Enchanted Netherite. As of right now, you can make armor (which will have a greater purpose in a future update), some tools with the pickaxe being able to extract mana from ores, a new trident that can extract mana from mobs (will fix trident throwing model in a future update), and an Enchanted Netherite Sword that can be imbued with spells using the Alchemy Table and the scroll upgrades for recipe references.

Alchemy Table

Powered by Mana, the Alchemy Table is a late game crafting table you can use to craft certian previously nonrenewable resources, spawn eggs, spawners, enchant the new Enchanted Netherite Sword with spells, craft a new potion type called Flasks, and craft explosive potions, alongside with being a new jobsite block for villagers which creates the Alchemist.

Flasks

Flasks are a new potion type that when you consume one, your weapon (sword or axe) will inflict a potion effect when you hit an entity with it. The current types of flasks include Acid Imbued Flasks, Freezing Flasks, Wither Imbued Flasks, and Levitation Imbued Flasks.

Explosive Potions

Explosive Potions do what you think. They set off an explosion when they hit a block or an entity.

Alchemist

With the Alchemy Table as their villager profession jobsite, the Alchemist sells amethyst and/or bottles o' enchanted and/or mana for emeralds. They also sell scrolls, mage hats, mana shields, and finally, 2 spawner components which is needed to craft a spawner within the Alchemy Table.

Notes

I didn't realize that Forge mods are compatible with NeoForge. Feel free to use this mod in NeoForge modpacks.
