Lunge Overhaul
Lunge Overhaul gives you control over how the Lunge enchantment behaves on each spear, so you no longer need to carry separate spears with and without Lunge.
It also lets Lunge work with Charge attacks, adding forward acceleration that helps build kinetic damage more smoothly.
Per-spear modes
Every spear can store its own mode:
- Player Default — Uses your personal default setting.
- Disabled — Disables both Lunge jab and Charge.
- Jab Only — Enables only Lunge's jab effect. (Vanilla behaviour.)
- Charge Only — Enables only Charge movement.
- Jab + Charge — Enables both effects.
Your player default is persistent and can be changed with:
/lungeoverhaul default <disabled|jab_only|charge_only|both>
New spears use the player default until you give them a specific mode.
Changing modes
Hold a spear in your main hand and press Ctrl + L (configurable) to cycle its mode. The selected mode is shown in the action bar and is saved directly on that spear.
Only items in the #minecraft:spears item tag are recognized as valid spears.
Charge behaviour
When Charge is enabled, using a Lunge-enchanted spear grants forward acceleration while the vanilla Lunge action is active. Charge movement scales with the enchantment level.
Charge has costs and limits:
- Requires sufficient hunger.
- Applies exhaustion while charging.
- Applies additional exhaustion when you damage an entity during a charge.
- Stops accelerating once it reaches the configured forward-speed threshold.
- Briefly stops the player after the charge ends.
The speed threshold only limits additional acceleration from this mod; it does not cap the player's actual movement speed.
