Luk's Perfect Parry! adds a simple but skill-based parry and guard system to Minecraft, giving swords a defensive use without replacing the normal combat system.
Hold Right Click while holding a sword to guard against incoming attacks. If an attack hits during the short parry window, it will be completely parried. If the timing is missed, the player will continue guarding and reduce the incoming damage instead.
The mod works with vanilla swords, modded swords and other weapons.
Features
• Sword Guarding — Hold Right Click with a sword to enter a defensive stance.
• Timed Parry System — Attacks received during the parry window are completely blocked.
• Consecutive Parries — Successfully chaining parries uses a shorter configurable timing window.
• Guard Damage Reduction — Missing the parry timing still allows the player to reduce incoming damage while guarding.
• Projectile Deflection — Successfully parrying a projectile can redirect the same projectile toward where the player is aiming.
• Reduced Deflection Speed — Deflected projectiles are launched at 75% of their incoming speed.
• Mob Stun — Parrying a mob's melee attack has a configurable chance to briefly stun it.
• Mob Disarm — Successfully parrying a mob's melee attack has a configurable chance to disarm it, causing the enemy to drop its held weapon!
• Directional Defense — Guarding and parrying only work against attacks coming from in front of the player.
• Modded Weapons Support — Designed to recognize vanilla swords and most swords added by other mods.
• Custom Parry & Disarm Effects — Includes visual particles and sound feedback when a Parry or Disarm succeeds.

Disarm Mechanic
Perfect Parries now have a 15% chance to disarm weapon-wielding enemies, forcing them to drop their held weapon or item onto the ground!
Disarm works against melee-attacking mobs, including modded enemies that attack using swords, axes, or even bows as melee weapons.
To keep the mechanic balanced, disarmed weapons drop with a maximum of 25% remaining durability, and enemies cannot drop the same weapon again upon death or immediately pick it back up.
Successful disarms also trigger a unique DisarmGlow particle effect and sound, making these moments even more satisfying!
The Disarm mechanic can be enabled, disabled, or customized through the mod's configuration menu.
Recommended Mod Combinations
For an even more engaging combat experience, try combining Luk's Perfect Parry! with Zombies Reworked and other mods that introduce more weapon-wielding enemies, especially mobs that use melee weapons. These combinations create more opportunities to make use of the parry system and make combat even more dynamic and rewarding!
Configuration
The mod includes an in-game configuration screen, accessible through:
Mods → Luk's Perfect Parry → Config
The following settings can be customized:
• Parry Window — Changes how many ticks the normal parry window lasts.
• Consecutive Parry Window — Changes the timing window used when chaining successful parries.
• Guard Melee Damage Reduction — Controls how much melee damage is reduced while guarding.
• Guard Projectile Damage Reduction — Controls how much projectile damage is reduced while guarding.
• Mob Stun Chance — Controls the chance of stunning a mob after successfully parrying its attack.
• Mob Disarm — Enables or disables the Disarm mechanic.
• Mob Disarm Chance — Controls the chance of disarming a mob after successfully parrying its melee attack.
• Projectile Deflection — Enables or disables projectile deflection when successfully parrying.
Default Behavior
By default:
• Normal Parry Window: 4 ticks (0.20 seconds)
• Consecutive Parry Window: 3 ticks (0.15 seconds)
• Mob Stun Chance: 30%
• Mob Disarm Chance: 15%
• Mob Disarm: Enabled
• Projectile Deflection: Enabled
After a successful parry, the current guard is immediately cancelled before another guard/parry can begin, making consecutive parries require repeated timing and skill rather than simply holding the guard indefinitely.
Luk's Perfect Parry is designed to make sword combat more interactive and rewarding while remaining lightweight, configurable, and easy to understand.
