Little Performance Improvements

LPI

Little Performance Improvements is an addon for LittleTiles that improves overall performance and introduces new ways to preview your creations.

It achieves more fps/performance by optimizing the following aspects:

  • Blueprint previews: Smoother rendering of large and complex blueprints.
  • Chisel shape previews: Improved FPS while dragging and resizing shapes.
  • Detailed previews: Reduced rendering cost once a shape finishes generating.
  • Shape generation: Faster preview generation for demanding shapes, including spheres, curves, curved walls, and pixel polygons.
  • Geometry processing: Removes hidden internal faces and reduces redundant vertices where applicable.
  • Outline rendering: Optimized edge generation, line rendering, and hidden-line removal.
  • Inventory icons: Cached blueprint icons reduce repeated rendering work.
  • Held-item rendering: Optimized LittleTiles item models.
  • Blueprint loading: Reduces repeated data loading and calculations while previewing.
  • Placement and updates: Optimizes box combining, placement bookkeeping, neighbor updates, and tile-face rebuilding.

A clearer view of your builds

Choose from four preview renderers, with independent settings for blueprints and chisel shapes:

  • Default — Familiar pulsating previews.
  • Surface — Directionally shaded surfaces for a clear view of your build’s shape.
  • Texture — See your build with its actual block textures.
  • Outline — View edges and contours with hidden-line removal.

Adjust preview colors, opacity, and outline thickness to match your preferences.
These can be configured by typing /cmdclientconfig in chat, then following littletiles/rendering
Changing renderingThreadCount and entityCacheBuildThreads (from base LT) to 1/2 - 3/4 of total system thread count is advised.

Requires LittleTiles and CreativeCore
It uses Veil and is fully shader compatible
Vibecoded, but carefully manually tested
If an issue arises please report it on the LPI github issue page

Thanks to Team Creative and especially CreativeMD for developing and maintaining LittleTiles and CreativeCore. Thanks to user Amp on Discord for uploading the blueprint I used as a reference for these pictures.
