Description

Where do despawned items go? Here.
That diamond pickaxe you dropped in lava. The stack of cobblestone you left lying around for five minutes. The sword you named Old Faithful that fell out of the End. None of it is gone. It all ends up in the Lost & Found: a dump the size of a dimension, under an amber haze that never lifts, with a lost property office in the middle.
Behind the counter sits Gary. Gary has been doing this since roughly the beginning of time. Gary would like you to stop losing things.

1. Lose something. Anything that despawns, burns, gets blown up, gets pricked to death by a cactus or falls out of the world goes in your file. Gary writes down where, when and how.

Fell in lava. Smells of it. Day 43, the Overworld, near 120, -30.
2. Get a ticket. The first time it happens, a little slip of paper tells you lost property has been received, and a Claim Ticket appears in your pocket.
3. Ride the chute. Use the ticket and you get sucked up and dropped out of a giant copper pipe onto the arrivals pile, together with everything you lost since your last visit.

Ring the bell (or just click him) to open your file. Everything you ever lost is in his ledger, and he will sell it back to you for experience levels, at emotional value: the more it hurt to lose, the more it costs. Things you died for cost extra. Things that fell in lava are a bit cheaper. They smell.

Press the wax seal, he stamps it RETURNED, and the item goes back in your pocket with its history written on the tooltip. Step on the exit mat to go home, or use your ticket again.

The Rotten Flesh Dunes. Smells exactly how you think.
Seed Country. Every seed you ever walked past.
The Cobblestone Sea. Yes. All of it.
The Dirt Hills. You know what you did.
Lost things lie around everywhere. Punch them and they're yours. Finders keepers. It's mostly junk. Sometimes it's somebody's Left Boot. Very rarely it's a diamond. Usually it's coal.

While you're down there, whatever the world is losing right now falls out of the chute. It rains rotten flesh, because it always does. Your own things land glowing, so you can watch them arrive.

The most expensive things anyone on the server has lost, on plinths, with little plaques. Admission free. Please do not lick the exhibits.

Every player has their own file and their own ticket number. The museum shows everyone's losses, so your worst day can become everybody's favourite exhibit.

- Your items still despawn. They just go somewhere now.
- Items picked up by mobs, hoppers or other players don't count. That's not lost, that's stolen. Different department.
- Each file keeps the 300 most interesting things. If you lose a 301st stack of dirt, Gary throws out the cheapest thing in there.
- Gary can't be hurt. He has heard every joke about it.
- Ops can use
/lostandfound visit, home, ticketandstats. - Needs NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, on both the client and the server.

Can I get my stuff back for free?
You can ask Gary.
Why is my cobblestone so cheap?
Because it's cobblestone.
Is there a refund policy?
There is a sign about it on the office. It says no.

Gary: "Not again."
