GameGunner5's Loot Mod

 

Sometimes it seems that Minecraft is missing something... Some sort of randomness aspect.

That's where this mod comes in! My Loot Mod adds loot boxes.

How does it work?

This mod aims to improve Minecraft's loot system. It is done using a bunch of random numbers..... Well there is more to it than that.

As the player, it is your task to acquire and open these boxes. There is currently 2 ways to get these boxes:

 

  • Give yourself one (via. creative)
  • Kill a mob
There will be more ways in the future and I am willing to take your ideas abroad!

Once you have acquired a box, simply right click it to open it.

 

As of version 0.2 There are new 6 new loot boxes:

  • Common loot box
  • UnCommon loot box
  • Rare loot box
  • Epic loot box
  • Dragon loot box
  • Random box

The common/uncommon/rare/epic/random loot boxes are made using their respective gems (acquirable from the dragon loot box). They also have a chance to drop gems.

You can also craft the gems using gem dust (smelt gems for the dust). For now, here is the recipe needed to make the boxes:

NOTE: Random loot box requires fragments of code.

Gems now have the option of being crafted. This is activated by default (can be deactivated in the config file). However I warn you, it is very expensive. (I might add an 'easy' crafting option in the future).


 What is the loot?

Currently, the loot is limited to various vanilla Minecraft items. I hope to expand this in the future.

 

Loot is separated into 4 different rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic.

All the boxes are put into these different rarities, depending on how difficult it is to get the box:

  • Common - White text
  • Uncommon - Yellow Text
  • Rare - Blue Text
  • Epic - Purple Text

The type of box you get depends on the loot. Open the spoiler to take a peak of what you could get!

Mod Support

As of 0.3 we now have mod support. Basically the random loot box has a chance to drop ANY item from the game, this includes both vanilla AND MODDED. It also drops blocks!

If I find a way, there will be specific boxes for specific mods but don't get your hopes up.

After opening one box, you have to wait a bit until you open another (doesn't happen all the time) This was just because of my computer, don't freak out!

Dragon box wouldn't drop loot.

 Extra notes:

The more mods you have, the more likely the 'Random box' is going to drop a modded item/block.

From version 0.7 onward it is now possible to edit the chance of a box dropping! The default chance is 1 in 25 (changed from 1 in 5). If you would like to change this go to the config file and config it your way.
