Loot Surge

Everything has a extra drop table!

PROJECT SUMMARY

Adds rarity-based bonus loot, powerful Unique items, custom abilities, and activity-based rewards to Minecraft. Discover rare equipment by fighting mobs, mining, farming, fishing, taming animals, and more.

Loot Surge

Loot Surge adds a bonus loot system to Minecraft. Mobs retain all their normal drops and experience, but killing them can also reward additional items from mob-specific loot pools.

Bonus drops have seven rarity tiers, ranging from Common to Unique. Higher rarities have increasingly dramatic sounds, particles, announcements, and light pillars that make valuable drops easy to spot.

Loot Surge also introduces activity-based drops, giving players a chance to discover special equipment through everyday gameplay.

Rarity System

There are seven rarity tiers:

Common: Small bonus drops with a subtle sparkle and pickup sound.

Uncommon: Better rewards with more noticeable visual and audio effects.

Rare: Particle bursts, special sounds, and a light pillar.

Epic: Larger particle effects, special announcements, and taller pillars.

Legendary: Dramatic sound effects, thunder, and flame pillars.

Mythic: Extremely rare drops with elaborate effects, server-wide announcements, and multiple items.

Unique: Special named items with custom abilities, powerful enchantments, and their own gameplay mechanics.

Drop chances, rarity weights, and item quantities can all be configured.

Mob Loot

Each mob has its own bonus loot pool, with rewards suited to the type of creature.

For example:

Skeletons can drop bows, arrows, and ranged equipment.

Endermen can drop pearls and specialized mining equipment.

Witches have access to potion materials and utility enchantments.

Wither Skeletons, the Warden, and the Wither have specialized high-tier rewards.

Loot pools can contain weapons, armor, tools, enchanted books, ores, food, potions, and other vanilla items.

The mod adds bonus drops after a mob dies rather than replacing vanilla loot tables.

Unique Items

Unique is the highest rarity tier. These are specially named items with abilities that go beyond ordinary enchantments.

There are currently over 100 Unique items across mob drops and activity-based rewards.

Some examples include:

Ghastcaller: Launches ghast fireballs and provides fire and explosion immunity.

Stormcaller: A trident with a chance to summon real lightning when striking enemies.

Voidpick: Provides powerful Haste and Night Vision while held.

Boneshot Hellbow: Fires rapid small fireballs when used.

Heart of the Deep Dark: Provides powerful defensive and offensive effects.

Hiro's Spirit: A rare wolf companion obtained through taming, named in honor of a beloved husky.

Unique abilities include lifesteal, explosions, lightning, fireballs, potion effects, damage immunity, movement bonuses, and specialized activity triggers.

Activity-Based Rewards

Combat isn't the only way to find Uniques. Loot Surge also rewards players for performing everyday activities.

Activities include:

Woodcutting and harvesting logs.

Mining stone, ores, and other underground materials.

Excavating dirt, sand, gravel, clay, and snow.

Harvesting flowers, leaves, mushrooms, and other plants.

Farming fully grown crops.

Shearing sheep and collecting honey.

Milking, breeding, and taming animals.

Fishing and archaeology.

Brewing potions and collecting water or lava.

Each activity has its own collection of Unique rewards, including specialized tools, armor, and equipment.

These abilities are designed to complement existing mods such as Vein Miner and TreeFeller rather than replace their functionality.

Unique Tools and Armor

Activity-based Uniques aren't limited to weapons.

Specialized equipment can provide bonuses when performing specific activities. Depending on the item, abilities can trigger bonus drops, duplicate resources, grant experience, repair equipment, apply effects, reveal nearby resources, or perform other special actions.

There are also Unique armor pieces, elytras, and shulker boxes.

Visuals and Effects

Higher rarity drops have their own particle effects, sounds, floating labels, and light pillars.

An optional companion resource pack, LootSurge Visuals, adds custom animated textures and models for Unique items, along with individual armor and elytra appearances.

The resource pack is separate from the main mod.

Configuration

Loot Surge is designed to be customizable through JSON configuration files.

You can configure:

Individual mob drop chances.

Rarity weights and item quantities.

Loot pools and available items.

Enchantments and custom item names.

Unique abilities and their triggers.

Activity drop chances and cooldowns.

Sounds, particles, and light pillars.

Excluded entities and other gameplay settings.

Custom loot pools support modded mobs and items through their registered IDs.

An optional Mod Menu integration provides an in-game screen for common settings.

An optional pity system can gradually increase activity drop chances after unsuccessful attempts.

Multiplayer and Compatibility

Loot generation and item abilities are handled server-side.

Works in single-player and dedicated multiplayer servers.

Players without the mod installed can still receive bonus drops and see the vanilla particle and sound effects.

Does not replace vanilla loot tables.

Designed to work alongside other loot and gameplay mods.

Custom item models and textures require Loot Surge and its companion resource pack on the client.

For servers with vanilla clients, custom item models can be disabled.
