Linkart: Fabric [Discontinued]
Linkart
Linkart adds the Linker, a new item that you can use for cart linking, optionally, by default, consuming Chains. Carts have a frontal "locomotive" which dictates which direction they go in.
SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK to select the parent of a cart.
SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK again on another cart to mark it as a child of the parent.
LINKER is the item used for the previous actions. It can be disabled.
CHAIN is the item used by the LINKER for the previous actions. It can be disabled.
If the LINKER is enabled, and CHAIN is enabled, the player requires CHAIN in their inventory to link carts.
If the LINKER is enabled, and CHAIN is disabled, the player does not require CHAIN in their inventory to link carts.
If the LINKER is disabled, whether CHAIN is enabled or not does not matter. Cart linking can only be done by third-party mods that register a linking item.
Whenever the parent moves, the others follow - simple as that!
Whenever I get in a minecart, whether it is linked to another or not, my vision is locked to a specific orientation. PLEASE HELP! Also, no, it is not because of the rotation-locking mod, I don't use that mod.
Aww, that's so sad. Why did you discontinue the mod? Also, can we have the source code at least, pretty please?
In reply to Forge_User_57037877:
It's available on GitHub, https://github.com/vini2003/Linkart.
I personally won't be working on it due to burn-out from modding, and I doubt Martmists will be doing anything :P
Shut, I'll get to it eventually
NVM just empty message...

Well, thanks a lot for this mod. Really shows cart-linking is a thing (contrary of what some "experts" say...)
I will try to find something more similar of TC (mainly the automation part), but while i would use Linkart.
Again, thanks for your patience!
In reply to Vico_13:
You can probably use redstone to automate the process... (I mean make redstone contraption) Main thing what you need to do is to set first (parent) minecart to get going. You can stop it by using unpowered power rails.
Oh hello! First of all thank you so much for this mod!
I currently using a hybrid server (Forge+Spigot) just to play with TrainCarts installed, which is a plugin with almost the same premise, so the possiblity to have this functionality native (and be able to play in singleplayer) really captivates me.
I just have some questions about Linkart:
- How your mod manage physics of each "train" (row of linked carts)? Could we choose in options for what action the train does when colliding to any entity (like push the entity aside, bump, apply damage)?
- TC have an option to dynamically keep loaded the current chunk and the chunk the train is currently heading to, what is essential to allow long-distance railroads (different to make the whole railroad loaded via /forceload or a chunk loader block, basically impracticable for weak servers with long railroads). Is this an option currently on Linkart, and if not could you add it?
- And finally TC have a basic automation system for stations (make the train stop at a spot, wait x seconds and go, or forward or reverse). Is this something implmented in Linkart already? If not, did you have plans to add any kind of automation (besides anything already possible - or not - with vanilla redstone).
Again, thank you so much for this! It will help me a lot!
1. Physics are mainly unaltered, we simply add "AI" to all minecarts to pathfind to the cart they're linked to
2. No, but you can use cartloaders for that.
3. This is not added and we're probably never doing it. The sole point of this mod is to allow linking minecarts.
1.16.2 please :)
I'm downloading the latest version as of today and the game keeps crashing on launch. I'm using the latest Fabric and latest API and the linkart file. 2.0.3+ for 1.16.1. What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Okay, I see there are dependency files that you will only know to install if you click on the Relations tab.
In any case, I wish the modder would release this mod for Forge as well so I can get it to work with Optifine natively. Optifabric does not render glass properly.
how do i make the linker?
Can you make this forge too?
In reply to EditName83:
Should be quite easy but to be honest I don't feel like doing it right now.
In reply to bolkor_:
That is a shame, it looks to be an awesome Mod.
In reply to bolkor_:
Wait, so this is not with Forge? How do you install it then and why is it even on this Forge website?
In reply to olternaut:
It's a mod that uses the Fabric modloader, which was created as an alternative to Forge around 1.13-1.14.
In reply to CyberneticSquid:
Please read my reply to bolkor.

>"...on this Forge website?"
No, the -forge in Curseforge isn't related to Forge, the modloader. Like, do you think the other games that Curseforge has mods for use the Minecraft Forge Modloader too?
Stop asking people to port their mods to Forge. Allow the minecraft modding scene to evolve, and everyone, even you, will be happier.

How about now? Do you feel like doing it now? It's just it's frustrating trying to find the right combination of mods and things to work properly. Trying to get railcarts to work but of course it's not updated for 1.16. Okay fine, how about traincarts? No it's a server plugin only. Okay how about Linkart? It's a Fabric mod which means I have to convert Optifine to a mod file, then download Optifabric so I can get all the mods working together. But now glass textures won't render properly because Optifabric had bugs. And Optifine has washed their hands of the matter.
Yes I would personally appreciate it a tremendous deal if you were to update Linkart to work with Forge. From what I can see Optifine is not going anywhere because of the sheer amount of great looking shaders made to work with it.
