Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Limited Lifes 0.9.0
Major survival and progression update focused on extremely difficult modpacks such as ATM10.
This update introduces Combat Hearts, threat-based loot, safer resurrection, offline revival support, improved configuration, and major backend hardening.
Combat Hearts
Added six new instant-use Combat Hearts.
These items are designed for surviving extremely dangerous fights without replacing the permanent Limited Lifes system.
Combat Hearts do not restore permanent lives.
Crimson Heart
- Instantly restores health.
- Default heal: 8 HP / 4 hearts.
- Max stack size: 16.
Azure Heart
- Grants temporary Absorption.
- Default: 8 HP Absorption.
- Max stack size: 8.
Emerald Heart
- Restores a small amount of health.
- Grants Regeneration II.
- Removes Poison.
- Max stack size: 8.
Infernal Heart
- Restores health.
- Grants Fire Resistance.
- Max stack size: 8.
Umbral Heart
- Grants temporary Resistance II.
- Removes Poison and Wither.
- Max stack size: 4.
Radiant Heart
- Extremely rare high-tier combat item.
- Restores a large amount of health.
- Grants additional Absorption.
- Max stack size: 2.
Instant Combat Consumption
- Combat Hearts are consumed almost instantly.
- Default use duration: 1 tick.
- Added a shared Combat Heart cooldown.
- Default shared cooldown: 15 ticks / 0.75 seconds.
- Prevents healing spam without making the items too slow for dangerous fights.
Combat Feedback
Added unique visual and sound feedback for each Combat Heart.
Depending on the heart used:
- colored particles
- short activation sound
- healing feedback
- Absorption feedback
- Resistance feedback
- regeneration feedback
Combat feedback is intentionally short and does not block the player's view.
Threat-Based Mob Loot
Added a new dynamic mob threat evaluation system.
Limited Lifes no longer determines Combat Heart drops only from entity IDs.
The system evaluates the mob's actual runtime attributes.
Threat calculation can consider:
- Maximum Health
- Armor
- Armor Toughness
- Attack Damage
- Movement Speed
- Knockback Resistance
- Boss status
- Boss bars
- Special tags
- Elite status
- Modified runtime attributes
This allows Limited Lifes to correctly evaluate heavily modified mobs.
Modded Mob Compatibility
Threat evaluation is designed to work with:
- Apotheosis-style bosses
- Hellmarked
- difficulty mods
- dynamically buffed vanilla mobs
- modded bosses
- mobs with modified attributes
A 400 HP Zombie with high armor and extreme damage is now treated as a much more dangerous enemy than a normal Zombie, even though both share the same entity type.
Threat Tiers
Added threat categories for mob evaluation.
Default conceptual tiers:
- Normal
- Dangerous
- Elite
- Miniboss
- Boss
- Extreme
Higher threat tiers have better chances of dropping higher-quality Combat Hearts.
Thresholds are configurable.
Combat Heart Mob Drops
Combat Hearts can now drop from hostile creatures.
Drop quality and probability scale with the evaluated threat of the mob.
Low-threat mobs primarily have a very small chance to drop Crimson Hearts.
Higher tiers may drop:
- Crimson Hearts
- Azure Hearts
- Emerald Hearts
- Infernal Hearts
- Umbral Hearts
- Radiant Hearts
Radiant Hearts remain extremely rare.
Basic Spawner Protection
Added protection against obvious Combat Heart farming.
- Spawner-created mobs can receive significantly reduced drop chances.
- Artificial/fake entities can be ignored where safely detectable.
- Regular natural mob farming remains supported.
This system intentionally avoids complex regional diminishing-return mechanics.
Exploration Loot
Combat Hearts can now appear in structure loot.
Examples include:
Dungeons
- Primarily Crimson Hearts
Ancient Cities
- Crimson Hearts
- Azure Hearts
- Rare Emerald Hearts
Bastions
- Crimson Hearts
- Infernal Hearts
- Azure Hearts
End Cities
- Azure Hearts
- Emerald Hearts
- Rare Umbral Hearts
High-tier modded structures
- Improved Combat Heart tiers
Exceptional boss/endgame loot
- Very small chance for Radiant Hearts
Loot is injected without replacing entire loot tables.
ATM10 Combat Preset
The ATM10 preset now enables the advanced Combat Heart ecosystem by default.
ATM10 mode includes:
- Combat Hearts
- Threat-based drops
- Structure loot
- Dynamic mob threat scaling
- Modded-mob compatibility
This system is designed specifically for modpacks where enemies can deal extreme damage.
Preset Improvements
Improved separation between difficulty presets.
Vanilla
- No external mod dependencies.
- Simpler Limited Lifes progression.
- Combat Hearts can remain disabled or simplified.
ATM10
- Full Combat Heart system.
- Threat scaling enabled.
- Modded loot enabled.
- ATM progression maintained.
Brutal
- Lower defensive resource availability.
- More punishing resurrection progression.
Custom
- Full manual control.
Missing optional mod items no longer need to crash the game.
Resurrection Protection
Added configurable protection after resurrection.
By default, revived players receive a short grace period.
Default:
- approximately 6 seconds
This prevents players from being revived directly beside a boss and immediately losing another permanent life.
Protection can optionally end early if the player attacks another entity.
Soul Fatigue
Added optional post-resurrection Soul Fatigue.
This temporary status can apply a small penalty after being revived.
Possible effects include:
- slightly reduced movement speed
- reduced attack speed
- reduced damage
The effect is configurable and can be disabled entirely.
Last Life Warning
Added a warning when a player reaches their final remaining life.
Example:
⚠ You are on your final life.
The warning may include:
- short sound
- actionbar/title
- subtle particles
It only triggers when entering the final-life state and does not continuously spam the player.
Offline Resurrection
Eliminated players no longer need to be online to be revived.
The Life Forge can now track eliminated offline players.
Stored data may include:
- UUID
- player name
- previous resurrection count
- current elimination state
- current resurrection cost
Offline resurrection can now create a pending revival.
When the player returns:
- elimination is removed
- lives are restored
- Spectator state is corrected
- scoreboard is synchronized
- resurrection protection is applied
Offline revival data survives server restarts.
Safer Resurrection Rituals
Life Forge rituals are now handled more transactionally.
Before consuming materials, the server validates:
- multiblock structure
- target player
- elimination status
- current resurrection cost
- required materials
- resurrection tier
- permissions
- duplicate ritual state
Materials should no longer be partially consumed when the ritual cannot actually begin.
Additional protections were added for:
- disconnects
- server shutdowns
- interrupted rituals
- simultaneous resurrection attempts
- duplicate processing
Life Forge Tier Feedback
Life Forge rituals can now visually reflect progression tiers.
Possible visual themes include:
- Vanilla: red / gold
- Allthemodium: gold
- Vibranium: green
- Unobtainium: purple
- ATM Star: white / cyan / gold
Tier feedback can affect:
- particles
- aura
- ritual effects
- rune colors
- completion effects
Ghost Structure Improvements
Improved Life Forge hologram controls.
Added support for views such as:
- full structure
- missing blocks only
- incorrect blocks only
- layer-by-layer construction
Added layer navigation:
- Previous Layer
- Next Layer
When missing-only mode is enabled, already-correct blocks no longer need to clutter the hologram.
Life Forge Structure Guide
Improved JEI / structure documentation for the Life Forge.
Structure documentation can now better communicate:
- full multiblock
- layers
- required materials
- ghost preview
- missing components
Reduced reliance on raw registry IDs and technical text.
JEI — Combat Hearts
Added Combat Heart documentation to JEI.
Each heart displays:
- icon
- effect
- duration
- cooldown
- stack size
- rarity
- acquisition methods
Combat Hearts explicitly state:
Does not restore Limited Lifes permanent lives.
This prevents confusion with the existing Life Heart.
In-Game Configuration
Expanded the Limited Lifes configuration interface.
New settings include:
- Combat Hearts
- Combat Heart cooldown
- mob drops
- structure loot
- threat scaling
- resurrection protection
- Soul Fatigue
- Last Life Warning
- Combat Heart effects
- Combat Heart stack sizes
- drop probabilities
Normal server settings remain server-authoritative.
Players without permission may view settings in read-only mode.
Administrative Commands
Expanded administrative and debugging commands.
Available or planned commands include:
/limitedlifes get <player>/limitedlifes set <player> <lives>/limitedlifes add <player> <amount>/limitedlifes remove <player> <amount>/limitedlifes revive <player>/limitedlifes eliminate <player>/limitedlifes reload/limitedlifes testsound/limitedlifes testheart <type>/limitedlifes debug threat
Threat Debugging
Added a threat debugging tool for server administrators.
When targeting an entity, Limited Lifes can display:
- Entity ID
- Maximum Health
- Armor
- Attack Damage
- Boss detection
- Threat Score
- Threat Tier
- calculated Combat Heart drop chances
This is intended to make balancing heavily modded servers much easier.
Data Migration
Added improved persistent-data versioning.
Limited Lifes now protects important player data across future updates.
Persistent data includes:
- lives
- elimination state
- resurrection count
- offline eliminated players
- pending resurrection data
Added groundwork for automatic SavedData migrations between versions.
Logging Improvements
Normal logging now focuses on:
- important warnings
- errors
- data migrations
Added optional debug logging for:
- Threat Score calculations
- loot rolls
- resurrection validation
- calculated costs
- network rejection
- multiblock validation
Debug logging remains disabled by default.
Network Hardening
Audited Limited Lifes custom networking.
Added additional validation for:
- packet sizes
- enum values
- entity references
- player references
- item/resource IDs
- counts
- permissions
- malformed client requests
The server remains authoritative over:
- lives
- resurrection
- ritual costs
- loot
- Combat Heart behavior
- configuration
Performance
The new threat system is designed to avoid unnecessary server load.
Threat Score is calculated only when needed, such as:
- mob death / loot resolution
- administrator debug commands
Limited Lifes does not continuously scan every mob.
No permanent per-entity threat tick is required.
Creative Tab
Added the new items to the Las Vidas creative tab.
Suggested order:
- Life Forge
- Life Heart
- Revival Sigil
- Crimson Heart
- Azure Heart
- Emerald Heart
- Infernal Heart
- Umbral Heart
- Radiant Heart
Localization
Added/updated localization support for:
- English (
en_us) - Spanish (
es_es)
New Spanish item names:
- Corazón Carmesí
- Corazón Azur
- Corazón Esmeralda
- Corazón Ígneo
- Corazón Umbrío

Compatibility
Designed for:
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge
- ATM10
- heavily modded survival servers
- extreme-difficulty modpacks
- dynamically buffed mobs
The existing Life Forge, permanent Life Heart, Revival Sigil, death announcements, custom death sound, TAB display, nametag display, resurrection progression, and ATM10 tiers remain part of Limited Lifes.
