What's new

  • The Wraith. Dying in a Trial is no longer just a number going down. The heart it took and every drop of essence it zeroed are sealed inside a wraith that rises where you died — your own skin, darkened to a silhouette, legless, its lower body fading into nothing. Kill it and you reclaim one heart and all of that essence; the second heart is gone for good. If you die again before you do, the old wraith and everything inside it are replaced, so that earlier loss becomes permanent. It answers only to its owner — nobody else can damage it — it does not burn, does not despawn and cannot be suffocated, and it drifts after you even through walls, spitting a shadow ball for 2 damage and Slowness I every 4 seconds.

  • Heartless. While one of your wraiths still lingers you carry Heartless: Trial essence gain is halved (×4 → ×2), so reclaiming your losses is worth more than farming without them. Kill the wraith — or gain a heart — to clear it.

  • Tear of Mercy. A drinkable tear that grants one level of Mercy, up to 3. Each level is a 10% chance that death simply does not happen to you: no hearts lost, no essence lost, no wraith left behind. Mercy is spent as it saves you, one level per save. Craft it from a ghast tear and two blaze powder, find it in 1% of chests, or lose a companion — a wolf, cat, parrot, horse, donkey, mule or llama you tamed has a 60% chance to leave a tear behind when it dies.

  • Plunder. A single-level enchantment for swords, axes, tridents, bows and crossbows. It grants Looting I's drop bonus on top of whatever Looting the weapon already carries (Looting III → IV) and doubles the Life Essence you harvest. Librarians at Journeyman level sell the book for 32 emeralds plus a book (3 in stock); it also appears in dungeon chests 2% of the time.

Changes

  • Gaining a heart now also grants Regeneration II for 5 seconds — buying a heart is a heal, not just a bigger bar.
  • 5 new options in config/lifeflow-common.toml: mercy chest chance, mercy chance per level, mercy level cap, pet drop chance and the Plunder essence multiplier. 26 in total, all documented in-game.
