Description

This mod adds 104 real isopods species/morphs, that you can find, buy, breed and collect in real life! I encourage everyone to google all of them, they are so cute! This page will serve as a wiki, all the information necessary to complete the mod is here.

You can use this mod in any modpack you wish to create, just give me the credits for my mod!

If you want to participate by creating models or textures, giving ideas or translating, please contact me! It would be my pleasure to work with you. I am currently working on a arthropods mod, on a benthos mod and on a plant/fungus one. There is still a lot to do! (especially for my villagers textures, they look homeless XD)

Wiki!

Catching isopods

To start playing this mod, you will need a bottle. A normal, empty bottle. You can capture isopods with it. Then, you can go and roam the world, flipping logs and stones to find isopods.

All over the world, you will be able to find rotten logs, snags and small stones laying on the ground. You can right click on them (or destroy, for the snags) to interact. If it was left undisturbed for at least 20 seconds, there is a chance when you interact it that it will spawn an isopod. These features only generate some biomes, but this doesn't mean that there aren't isopods that like them in other biomes. Likewise, clover patches sometimes generate in plains biomes. They don't seem to attract isopods here, but maybe in another biome they could.

Note that rotten logs, small stones and snags generate a few minutes after world gen, so you won't find much if you speedrun through the map. They can be crafted with a log/plank/stone/grass and a dead leaf block.

The isopods that cannot be found in nature are either obtainable by morphing, or by exchanging with isopodologists villagers. Their profession block is a terrarium.

Breeding isopods

For breeding and keeping isopods, you may want to make them an enclosure. Classic minecraft holes will do, but i added a cute terrarium. It is crafted with 6 glass panes, a dirt block and a dead leaf. Take care, as entities on this block cannot jump. If you fall in it, you either will have to use water/ladders/teleportation/etc to get out, or destroy the block. As it is made in glass, you will need silk touch to collect it back once placed. Isopods can be placed in the terrarium and won't be able to get out. Just don't overcrowd it, as the isopods in excess will die.

Here is the crafting recipe:

In this mod, isopods can breed when fed dead leaf blocks. They can be crafted with four dead leaves. Dead leaves can be obtained by cooking any leaves in a furnace or on a campfire.

Isopods can only breed with the same morph as them, even if they are the same species. This way, would will need at least two of the same morph to start a new colony. Babies, when growing up, have a small chance to change into another morph of the same species. Using dead leaves block to make the baby grow up faster will not speed up the morphing process. It will just morph when adult.

Most isopods can morph into all other morphs of the same species.

Trivia

  • Cubaris sp. Rubber ducky and all Ardentiella sp. are harder to morph. Porcellio laevis is slightly easier to morph than others species, and Porcellionides pruinosus is much easier.
  • Trichorina tomentosa is parthenogenetic. If not in a terrarium, they will sometimes just create a baby out of nowhere, even if alone.
  • Hyloniscus riparius is immune to drowning.
  • Every isopod is very cute.
  • My favourites are Laureola sp. Ivory spiky and Porcellio magnificus.

Spoilers

Obtaining all isopods

Some isopods are only found in logs, or stones, or snags, or clovers, or villagers. You will need all methods to catch all of them. you will also need to bring them to a lot of different biomes.

Ardentiella sp. Red diablo can be obtained either under small stones in bamboo forest, or by villagers.

Cubaris sp. can be found in clovers placed on moss blocks in lush caves only. This is the only use of the clovers. Those include cappuccino, mandarin, orange freezy, pak chong, panda king and rubber ducky. The other cubaris can be obtained by morphing, except Cubaris sp. Shiny gator which is obtainable by villagers only.

The Laureola sp., the Troglodillo sp., Reductoniscus tuberculatus and Platyarthrus hoffmannseggii are all obtainable by villagers only.

Most isopods can be found in the forests biomes (Forest, flower forest, taiga, birch, old growth birch, dark forest, plains and sunflower plains, and everything that is tagged as forest, plains or jungles in other mods). Here is where to catch the others:

  • In bamboo jungles only
    • Ardentiella sp. Red diablo
  • In beaches only
    • Alloniscus perconvexus
    • Buchnerillo atlanticus
  • In cherry groves only
    • Agabiformius lentus
  • In dark forests only
    • Philoscia muscorum
  • In deserts only
    • Hemilepistus reaumurii
  • In dripstone caves only
    • Trogeluma machadoi
    • Oroniscus dalmaticus
    • Androniscus dentiger
  • In jungles only (Jungle, sparse jungle, bamboo jungle, everything tagged as jungle from other mods)
    • Cristarmadillidium muricatum
    • Pseudarmadillio spinosus
    • Adinda sp.
    • Trichorina tomentosa
  • In meadows only
    • Armadillidium flavomuscatum
  • In mushrooms fields only (I know, but these isopods are from madagascar and there are not much rare island biomes in minecraft)
    • Agnara madagascariensis
    • Calmanesia erinaceus, the three morphs
  • In old growth taiga/pine only
    • Sinodillo sp.
  • In plains only (plains, sunflower plains, everything tagged as plains from other mods)
    • Porcellio laevis
  • In savannas only (Savanna, savanna plateau, everything tagged as savanna from other mods)
    • Armadillidium klugii
    • Porcellio bolivari
    • Porcellio expansus
    • Porcellio haasi
    • Porcellionides pruinosus
  • In swamps only (Swamps, mangroves)
    • Hyloniscus riparius
  • In windswept forests only
    • Porcellio magnificus
    • Porcellio werneri
  • In windswept hills only
    • Pseudolaureola atlantica
  • In wooded badlands only
    • Porcellio hoffmannseggii

There are also some isopods only obtainable by trading with isopodologist villagers, when they reach the master level. These are:

  • Platyarthrus hoffmannseggii
  • Cubaris sp. Shiny gator
  • All Laureola sp.
  • Reductoniscus tuberculatus
  • All Troglodillo sp. However, you can also morph them by breeding

Breeding all isopods

Ardentiella sp. Red diablo can morph into all other Ardentiella sp., except Red phase pink lambo. All other Ardentiella sp. can morph into Red diablo. The Pink lambo and the Red phase pink lambo can also morph into one another in addition to Red diablo.

Here is the morphing pattern of Cubaris sp. species not found under clovers in lush caves or by villagers.

  • Cubaris sp. Rubber ducky can morph into Lemon blue, Jupiter, White shark, Yellow tiger, Black Evil, Blonde ducky, Amber bee and Pharaoh
  • Lemon blue and Jupiter can only morph in one another
  • Pak chong and Cherry can only morph in one another
  • The pandas (king, black and red) can all morph in one another
  • The Amber bee and the Blonde ducky can morph back into Rubber ducky
  • The Cubaris murina can all morph into other Cubaris murina (normal, anemone, glacier and papaya)
  • The other Cubaris sp. can not morph

The Laureola sp. are not morphable.

Troglodillo sp. Sunset and Soil can morph into each other, while Green spot can morph into the other two.

Calmanesia erinaceus can not breed. (no one has succeded in keeping a colony alive IRL)

The other species can be morphed in all their morphs from any morph.
