LevelZ+ is a modular expansion and compatibility suite for LevelZ on Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric.
It extends LevelZ's progression system into additional gameplay mechanics, provides compatibility with popular mods, and introduces configurable XP improvements for both singleplayer and multiplayer.
The goal is simple: make LevelZ progression matter across more of Minecraft, without requiring a large dependency stack or forcing unwanted gameplay changes.
LevelZ is the only required gameplay mod. All external integrations are optional and activate only when their corresponding mods are installed.
Version 2.0 consolidated the former standalone Tom's Simple Storage and combat compatibility mods into LevelZ+, adding Small Ships Dockyard support alongside the existing stat integrations.
Version 2.1.1 builds on that foundation with improved independent progression XP, reliable multiplayer combat rewards, farming compatibility, configuration improvements, and additional safeguards against duplicate XP.
LevelZ+ connects existing LevelZ skills to additional gameplay mechanics.
Every stat contribution is configurable, and individual bonuses can be effectively disabled by setting their per-level values to 0.
Endurance / Stamina
Agility
Luck
Archery
Trade
Alchemy
All relevant values are configurable through config/levelz_plus.properties.
LevelZ+ expands the way players earn progression XP without interfering with Minecraft's vanilla experience system.
Vanilla XP and LevelZ progression XP remain separate.
This allows players to continue using ordinary Minecraft experience for enchanting, repairing, and other mechanics while progressing their LevelZ skills independently.
LevelZ+ includes a configurable combat XP system with improved damage attribution and multiplayer contribution tracking.
When enabled, it provides:
Shared multiplayer progression
When multiple eligible players contribute to killing the same mob, LevelZ+ can award each contributor their own full calculated LevelZ XP reward.
XP is not divided between players or restricted to the player delivering the final hit.
This makes cooperative combat more rewarding and avoids the usual last-hit limitation.
Combat XP can optionally scale with a mob's maximum health.
Default settings when custom combat XP is enabled:
levelz_xp.combat.mob_xp_multiplier=1.0
levelz_xp.combat.max_health_fraction=0.10
This allows tougher enemies to provide additional progression XP, with the contribution controlled through configuration.
Custom LevelZ+ combat XP is disabled by default in 2.1.1.
levelz_xp.combat.enabled=false
Standard LevelZ already provides mob-kill XP. Enabling both systems without adjusting their configuration may cause duplicate progression rewards.
If you want to use LevelZ+'s custom multiplayer combat XP system, enable it and disable native LevelZ mob XP by setting:
mobXPMultiplier=0.0
in LevelZ's configuration.
LevelZ+ also includes a lightweight server-startup warning when it detects that both combat XP systems are enabled.
It never automatically changes LevelZ's settings.
Existing LevelZ+ configurations retain their explicit combat XP settings when updating.
LevelZ+ extends progression XP support to additional farming interactions.
This includes compatibility with Actually Harvest, allowing supported right-click harvesting actions to award LevelZ farming progression XP.
The integration is designed to work alongside ordinary Minecraft farming and harvesting mechanics.
Farming XP behaviour and reward scaling remain configurable.
Each compatibility module operates independently.
Modules only activate when the relevant mod is installed, and they can be enabled or disabled through the LevelZ+ configuration.
Prevents the Crafting Terminal from bypassing LevelZ crafting requirements.
Enforces LevelZ item-use restrictions during Better Combat attacks.
Prevents spell-casting interactions from bypassing LevelZ item restrictions.
Adds LevelZ crafting-requirement enforcement to the Small Ships 2.0 Dockyard.
When a player attempts to construct a ship, LevelZ+ resolves the selected ship type and wood variant to its actual item ID.
For example:
smallships:galleon + oak → smallships:oak_galleon
LevelZ+ then checks the item's normal LevelZ crafting restriction.
Ship level requirements are not hard-coded into LevelZ+.
Modpack authors can change ship requirements through the standard LevelZ restriction data without modifying this mod.
Custom item-mapping overrides are also available for addon ships with unusual naming conventions.
Additional configuration options control Dockyard enforcement, denial messages, and unresolved ship handling.
LevelZ+ generates its configuration at:
config/levelz_plus.properties
The configuration is a readable, annotated properties file designed for both ordinary players and modpack developers.
Version 2.1.1 retains all 34 existing configuration options.
general.debug
Enables detailed diagnostic logging for compatibility modules, item restrictions, and progression XP handling.
Disabled by default.
modules.*
Controls the optional Tom's Simple Storage, Better Combat, Spell Engine, and Small Ships compatibility modules.
Modules are enabled by default but remain inactive when their target mods are absent.
stats.*
Controls the individual LevelZ skill-based stat contributions.
Existing balance defaults are preserved.
levelz_xp.*
Controls additional LevelZ progression XP behaviour, including combat rewards, farming integrations, reward multipliers, and combat health scaling.
Custom combat XP is disabled by default to avoid overlapping with native LevelZ combat XP.
small_ships.*
Controls Dockyard restriction enforcement, denial messages, unresolved ship handling, and custom ship-item mappings.
LevelZ+ preserves existing configuration values instead of silently resetting them when updating.
The previous JSON-to-properties configuration migration remains supported for older installations where applicable.
Configuration changes require a Minecraft or dedicated-server restart.
LevelZ+ supports both singleplayer and dedicated multiplayer servers.
Its compatibility restrictions are designed to enforce progression on the server, including interactions that other mods implement through custom networking.
The optional combat XP system supports contributor-based rewards, so cooperating players can receive independent progression XP without competing for the final hit.
Version 2.1.1 improves contributor attribution, death reward handling, and skipped-award diagnostics.
Custom combat XP remains optional, allowing servers to retain standard LevelZ progression when shared combat rewards are not needed.

Install Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Install LevelZ 1.4.13 or a compatible version.
Place the LevelZ+ JAR into your mods folder.
Install whichever supported optional mods you want to use.
Start Minecraft or your dedicated server to generate the configuration.
Adjust config/levelz_plus.properties as needed.
For servers using LevelZ+'s shared combat XP system, enable custom combat XP and disable native LevelZ mob XP to avoid duplicate rewards.
LevelZ+ can be used as a lightweight compatibility addition, a configurable stat expansion, or a broader progression extension for multiplayer servers.
Use the integrations you need. Disable the ones you don't.
One mod. More meaningful progression. Fully configurable.
