Lenient Death allows you to partially keep your inventory on death; configurable with a wide array of options.

Lenient Death can move your items to a safe space if you die to the void, or optionally keep them on you forcefully.
Items you DO drop can be given a glowing outline to find your way back; these outlines change colour as the items get closer to expiry.
