What's new

1.0.0

First official release.

Added

  • /kipl: Query the most recent player kill, outputting "who was killed by whom," the time it occurred, the channel source, and the original death message
  • /kipl list [count]: View recent kills in reverse chronological order, default 5, maximum 50
  • /kipl of <player>: Query who most recently killed this player
  • /kipl by <player>: Query who this player most recently killed
  • /kipl stats: View raw hit counts for the event channel / console channel, deduplication merge counts, and console channel diagnostics
  • /kipl clear: Clear records and reset counters
  • /kipl reload: Reload the config file

Dual-Channel Monitoring

  • In-game event channel: Listens for LivingDeathEvent and directly obtains the victim's and killer's UUIDs; kills caused by projectiles such as arrows and tridents, as well as pets such as tamed wolves, are traced back to the corresponding player
  • Console log channel: Mounts an Appender on the Log4j2 root logger and reads the INFO messages the server prints for each player death; even if the death event is canceled or rewritten by other mods, this channel still works

Deduplication

  • Repeated observations of the same "victim + killer" within dedupWindowMs (default 5000 ms) are merged into the existing record rather than adding a new one
  • Records separately accumulate hit counts for both channels, and UUIDs from the event channel fill in missing data from the console channel
  • Name comparison is case-insensitive and first strips team prefixes / suffixes such as [VIP]

Accuracy and Safety

  • The console channel only accepts names of players currently online, avoiding misclassifying "was slain by a Zombie" as a player kill
  • Does not use GameProfileCache: in offline mode it synthesizes offline profiles for arbitrary names, and it initiates blocking queries on cache misses
  • All parsing and merging exceptions are isolated and will not affect server logs

Configuration

  • config/kipl/config.json, with each option carrying English _comment_* descriptions
  • Configurable: language, deduplication time window, number of records to retain, command permission level, toggles for the two channels, detection log toggle

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge 21.1.0 and above
  • Works on both servers and singleplayer
