What's new

1.1.0 (unreleased)

The 1.1 update turns on the endgame that 1.0 shipped switched off, and adds companion-mod content, a boss animation pass and new dungeon themes. Everything can still be tuned in khaosnexus-server.toml and through datapacks.

Endgame, now on by default

  • Boss rush (/khaosnexus bossrush start, S rank): a timed chain of 5 bosses with one heal after the 3rd. Cataclysm bosses in the roster now get the same health and damage tuning they use in gates (modBossScale), so a rush is tough but never a one-shot. Missing mods' bosses are skipped.
  • Challenge gates: monthly authored encounters (Iron Wall, Shadow Run, Void Choir, Warden's Trial), one life per attempt, 3 attempts a month.
  • Ascension: a one-time quest after Paragon rank (3 SS clears, Spire floor 12, 5 boss rush wins) that unlocks an awakened ability per class (16 options).
  • Group raids: multi-phase raid bosses (Rift Sovereign, Abyssal Colossus) with tank aggro and Lifebinder cleanses. The minimum party is now 2 (was 4) so smaller servers can raid; boss health still grows per hunter.
  • Turn any of them off with bossRush, challengeGates, secondAwakening or groupRaids in [endgame].

Companion-mod content (optional, only when the mod is installed)

  • Ars Nouveau: new Gatesense glyph. It names the nearest open gate's rank, distance and direction and draws a short trail toward it (Amplify/AOE widens the search). Recipe: Rift Source Shard, compass, air essence.
  • Apotheosis: 8 class gems (Bulwark, Shadowfang, Arcanum, Hawkeye, Lifethread, Bloodrage, Legion, Phylactery), found in B–S gate chests.
  • Artifacts: boss trophies that counter their boss. Warden's Broken Chain (the Rift Warden's hits deal 25% less and can't slow you) and Guardian's Plume (the Spire Guardian can't knock you back) each drop 20% of the time. New Hunter's Lucky Coin charm (+2 Luck) in C–S gate chests.
  • The 1.0 compat items keep their stats; all compat item art (1.0 and 1.1) was redrawn to the boss-art standard.
  • Hunter Tomes (Ars Nouveau): an Ars spell book for the casting classes (Caster, Lifebinder, Summoner, Necromancer) that evolves with your hunter rank through 7 tiers: E, D, C, B, A, S and Paragon (SS/Paragon). Each tier raises spell slots (3 → 10), the glyph tier it allows (1 → 3) and its source discount per cast (0 → 40). Evolution happens automatically on rank-up and keeps every inscribed spell, name and colour. From C up the tome unlocks a class attunement: Caster +8–30% spell damage, Summoner double that against rift creatures, Necromancer spell lifesteal, Lifebinder heals nearby allies when casting. Other classes can't open or cast it. Craft: Novice Spell Book + Rift Core + Rift Essence + Rift Source Shard.

Boss animations

  • The Rift Warden and the Spire Guardian have new combat idle and walk loops. With the weapon drawn, the Warden holds the greatsword in a low guard and the Guardian carries the halberd two-handed across its body, instead of swinging their arms like they were jogging.
  • The Warden's draw now ends exactly in the guard pose, so there's no snap when it finishes.
  • The Guardian now carries the halberd two-handed on a diagonal, blade up and out to the side. Every Guardian and Warden animation was checked frame by frame so the halberd and greatsword never pass through the head, neck or body.
  • Heavier unarmed walk (shorter stride, feet plant, weight dips on each step), no more armour "breathing" wobble, and smoother blends into and out of attacks.

Dungeons

  • Four new themes: Scorched Forge (nether, badlands, desert; D+), Sunken Temple (ocean, beach, swamp; C+), Void Sanctum (B+), Sculk Hollow (deep dark; A+).
  • With Mowzie's Mobs installed: Wroughtnaut Forge Hall (B+) and Frostmaw Den (A+).
  • Theme hazards are now on and mild, pulsing every 5 seconds: chill (Slowness I), heat (Hunger I, Fire Resistance ignores it), damp (Mining Fatigue I), void (brief Darkness) and spores (Weakness I, Overgrown Ruin). A lit campfire, torch or lantern within 3 blocks keeps the chill and the damp off. Turn them off with dungeonThemeHazards.
