What's new

Carpets and the Ottoman room

  • The travelling carpet seller: an old man with a white beard who comes by now and then, leading a camel in a kilim saddle. He lays a few of his carpets out beside him as a stall, sells carpets in thirteen Turkish and Turkic patterns (Star Uşak, Lotto, Holbein, Bergama, Ladik, Elibelinde, Koçboynuzu, Yörük, Hereke silk, Seljuk, Turkmen Tekke, Kyrgyz shyrdak and Uyghur Khotan) and nazar beads, buys wool, and rolls his stall up again when he moves on. Each carpet's tooltip says where its pattern comes from.
  • Carpets join into rugs: lay carpets of one pattern side by side and they become one rug, with one border running all the way round, inside corners too.
  • Kilims on the wall: place a carpet against a wall to hang it. Kilims side by side on a wall join up the same way.
  • Weave your own: nine of the patterns can be woven from wool and dyes. Hereke silk, the Seljuk, the Turkmen and the Uyghur carpets come only from the carpet seller.
  • Saddle blankets: llamas wear the carpets as blankets, and a saddle with a carpet makes a kilim camel saddle.
  • An Ottoman room: sedirs (low divans) along the wall that join into one long seat, minder floor cushions you sit on cross-legged, and the sini, a big round copper tray on the floor for çay and food. Cushions and divans come in every carpet pattern.
  • Eat together: sit beside a sini to eat and drink from it. When two or more people or villagers eat from the same sini, it fills you up more. Afiyet olsun!
  • Evenings: after work villagers sit down on cushions, divans and chairs nearby, cross-legged on a minder. The usta, once his spit needs nothing more, sits down with a glass of çay.
  • Nazar boncuğu: hang the blue eye bead in a doorway and zombies won't break the door down; give one to an animal (never a pig) and it wears it on its chest, and lightning leaves it alone.

In the kitchen

  • Sauces on anything meaty: pour garlic, red or hot sauce (or all three) on cooked meat, fish, döner meat, kebabs or a baked potato in the crafting grid. Each sauce is half a drumstick more filling, and you can see it poured over the food. New: red sauce, from tomatoes, paprika, peppers and olive oil.
  • The usta grows rounder with every level he gains.
  • Spit holders in every wood and in many more stones and rocks: 53 in all.
  • Fixed: the çağ spit now gives a villager the usta's job, like the döner spit.
