Just Harder transforms Minecraft into a brutal, rewarding survival experience that will test everything you know about the game. Every system has been rethought — from how you craft tools to how the world tries to kill you.

☠ What is Just Harder?
Just Harder is a hardcore difficulty overhaul mod for Fabric 1.21.1. When you create a world, you can toggle Just Harder mode on and tweak every single feature through a fully scrollable settings screen — making it as punishing or as manageable as you want. Everything is toggleable. Nothing is forced.

⚔ Features
Combat & Damage
Every hit counts. Damage dealt to you is multiplied (up to 5×), so a skeleton can kill you in seconds if you're not careful. Water no longer saves you from fall damage. Phantom spawns ignore whether you've slept. Even peaceful animals will turn on you if you enable all-hostile mode.

Harder Crafting
Forget muscle memory. Every major recipe has been redesigned to require more thought and more materials. Iron tools need copper for their bindings. Diamond armor requires iron reinforcement. The Enchanting Table needs gold. The Eye of Ender requires a gold ring, blaze powder, and an ender pearl. Nothing is handed to you.
Thirst

A water bar sits above your hunger bar. Sprint and it drains faster. Let it hit zero and you'll suffer Slowness, Weakness, and eventually starvation damage. Drink water bottles, milk, or soups to stay hydrated. Manage it or die slowly.
Temperature

Cold biomes will freeze you without shelter or armor. Step outside in a snow biome with less than two pieces of armor and the cold will slow you, then damage you. But find a building or cave — anything with a roof above you — and you're safe. Hot biomes and the Nether burn you without Fire Resistance. The End weakens you over time.
Farming

Crops grow at a fraction of vanilla speed. They need watering to survive — neglect them and they wither. Overwater them and they drown. Seasons change every few in-game days, and warm crops like wheat and potatoes thrive in summer but barely grow in winter. Check the season indicator in the top right corner before planting.
Loot

Every item that drops from a block or mob rolls individually for survival. Each piece of coal, each bone, each drop of loot has its own chance to appear. The default is 10% — meaning most of what would normally drop simply won't. Adjust the slider to make it harder or more forgiving.

Durability
Tools and armor break dramatically faster. At default settings they last just 15% of their normal lifespan. Carry spares. Always.

Settings Screen
Every feature has its own toggle and slider. Open the settings from the Create World screen using the small gear button next to the Just Harder toggle. Adjust:

Damage multiplier (1× to 5×)
Loot chance per item (5% to 100%)
Crop growth rate
Thirst drain speed
Season length
Durability fraction
Fall damage multiplier
And more

All settings are saved per world and synced to all players on a server.
