Description

J's Computers

J's Computers

Ever wanted to build an actual computer in Minecraft? Not just a block with a command line, but a computer you can assemble, install an operating system on, and actually use?

That's what J's Computers is all about.

J's Computers is a technology mod that brings computers, operating systems, programming, networking, storage and automation into Minecraft, all built around one idea: you store your items, manipulate them, and do much more, with computers

Start with an old 16-bit computer running MC-DOS, or build something more modern with powerful processors, graphics cards and plenty of memory. Install operating systems inspired by Windows, Linux and Unix, explore their desktops, use their applications, or even write your own programs with the mod's programming languages, Σ and Σ#.

But computers aren't just for playing around with software. Connect them together, build server racks and a Mainframe, and you've got yourself a network capable of storing items, moving resources and automatically crafting things using machines from other mods.

Unlike traditional storage mods, J's Computers doesn't simply give you a giant inventory connected to a terminal. You're building the computers, servers and infrastructure that make the whole thing work. And as your network grows, so does what you can do with it.

Whether you're into retro computing, programming, automation or just building an unnecessarily elaborate computer room, there's plenty to experiment with.

A Few Things to Know

J's Computers is currently in Alpha, and development is ongoing. Computer hardware doesn't have survival crafting recipes yet, so Creative Mode is recommended for now. Although, the mod have integration with KubeJS, so you can add your own recipes to craft everything.

The mod requires J's Core and GeckoLib, and supports Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Integrations with JEI, EMI, Mekanism and CC: Tweaked are also available. From version 0.6.0a GeckoLib will no longer be necessary since J's Core will replace the entirety of what GeckoLib did for this mod.

What's Next?

The next update, with the codename Carbon (v0.6.0a), is currently in development. It will add a simulated cryptocurrency system, Wireless connections to the computer's network and much more.

After Carbon, the following things will be added through the next versions:

  • Item generation with a simulated AI system (not an actual AI generating items in-game)
  • Digital security
  • More Operating Systems
  • More Eras
  • More Programs
