With various furnaces from history, you can create all kinds of iron substitutions.

Wrought Iron
Currently has no use other than to create Steel and Furnace Doors
Cast Iron
Basic Iron-Carbon Alloy used to create hammers and other sturdy crafting ingredients
Steel
Currently the most useful survival-obtainable Iron-Carbon Alloy in the mod. Used for various crafting ingredients and blocks, such as Heat Resistant Bricks and Steel tools
Debug
Creative-only itemset used to debug the mod. Has tools as the Debug Hammer (hammer with infinite durability) and the Debug Multiblock Opener
Chromium
Medium-rare material that is only used to create Chromium-Iron Alloys
Nickel
Medium-rare material that is only used to create Stainless Steel (more uses might be added in the future)
Stainless Steel
Very strong Steel variant, made of Chromium-Iron Alloy, Iron, and Nickel (unobtainable as of now)

Layer Furnace

The Layer Furnace is used to create Cast Iron with Iron Ore and Coal
Basic Blast Furnace

The Basic Blast Furnace is used to slowly make Steel with Wrought Iron and Coal
Basic Alloy Furnace

The Basic Alloy Furnace can be used to create Alloys from 2 materials
Electric Blast Furnace

The Electric Blast Furnace is an improved version of the Basic Blast Furnace; it can process 3 items at once and is 4 times as fast is it's predecessor
Metal Press

The Metal Press is used to shape ingots into other crafting materials without having to do it manually, and some items can be made with less cost
