Description
Iron Man Sentinel Mode — Alpha 4.0.1
Sentinel AI Update
The Sentinel system has received its biggest update yet.
This update focuses on making deployed Iron Man suits behave less like simple companion entities and more like independent armor systems capable of monitoring, protecting, and responding to their operator.
🤖 Sentinel AI Communications
Sentinels can now communicate with their operator through a new contextual HUD system.
Messages are classified by priority:
[ SENTINEL // NORMAL ] — General status information
[ SENTINEL // CAUTION ] — Nearby threats and important notices
[ SENTINEL // WARNING ] — Dangerous situations or armor damage
[ SENTINEL // CRITICAL ] — Emergency protocols and critical conditions
Each notification includes a colored timer bar and remains visible according to its priority level.
🛡️ Guard / Escort Protocol
A new configurable keybind has been added:
G — Toggle Guard / Escort Protocol
While in Guard Mode, the Sentinel:
- Stops following its operator
- Records its current position
- Protects a 10-block perimeter
- Engages hostile entities that enter the area
- Returns to its original guard position after combat
Press G again to restore Escort Mode, and the Sentinel will return to its operator.
❤️ Emergency Rescue Protocol
If the operator reaches 2 hearts or less, an available Sentinel can automatically initiate an emergency response.
The armor will:
- Immediately return to its operator
- Automatically re-equip itself
- Provide temporary regeneration
- Enter a 5-minute Emergency Rescue cooldown
The cooldown persists even after death and respawn, preventing the system from being exploited for unlimited emergency healing.
🔍 Sentinel Diagnostics
Press Shift + V while a Sentinel is deployed to request a diagnostic report.
Diagnostics can provide information such as:
- Armor integrity
- Nearby threats
- Distance from the operator
- Current protocol
- Emergency Rescue availability/cooldown
Guard Mode is also identified as Protocol: GUARD.
⚔️ Improved Combat AI
Sentinel behavior has been improved to better recognize threats, protect its operator, and avoid unnecessary roaming.
Sentinels can respond to nearby hostile entities while still prioritizing the safety of their owner.
💀 Operator Death & Recovery
Sentinel behavior following the operator's death has been improved, including better owner reacquisition after respawn.
Emergency Rescue cooldown information is also preserved after death.
🔊 Audio Improvements
Deploy and re-equip sounds have been reduced in volume for a softer and more comfortable experience, especially when using headphones.
Controls
V — Deploy / Re-equip Sentinel
Shift + V — Sentinel Diagnostics
G — Toggle Guard / Escort Protocol
All keybinds can be changed through Minecraft's Controls menu.
Alpha 4.0.1 represents a major step forward for Sentinel Mode, with the goal of making every deployed suit behave like an autonomous Iron Man armor controlled by its own support AI.
Thank you to everyone who downloaded and tested the mod! ❤️
Critical Systems — Disabled Mode
A Sentinel armor cannot simply die and disappear along with its equipment.
If a Sentinel takes lethal damage, its systems enter a critical state and the armor becomes disabled.
A disabled Sentinel:
- Stops moving
- Stops attacking
- Remains where it was disabled
- Keeps all armor pieces safely stored
- Becomes protected from additional damage
- Must be manually recovered by its owner
Return to the armor and press the Sentinel Mode key to re-equip it.
The next time the armor is deployed, the Sentinel's health will be fully restored.
Sentinel Health
Sentinel health increases with more advanced generations of Iron Man armor.
Starting with Mark XVI, Sentinel health increases by approximately 5 hearts every 5 Mark generations.
This system allows newer armor generations to survive longer while keeping autonomous armor intentionally weaker than a fully piloted Iron Man suit.
Sentinel Mode is intentionally designed as a limited autonomous protocol, rather than an AI-controlled replacement for the player.
A Sentinel can move, defend its owner, identify threats, and perform basic combat routines, but it currently does not have access to advanced autonomous systems such as repulsor combat or independent flight.
These capabilities may be explored in future updates.
Compatible Armors
Sentinel Mode is designed for compatible Iron Man armors starting with Mark XVI and later generations available in FSang Heroes.
Advanced suits and nanotechnology-based armors are also supported where compatible.
Earlier armor generations are intentionally excluded from the Sentinel Protocol.
