Beta Release
Iron & Blood has entered Beta. This update focuses on weapon guarding, combat feedback, visual effects, and improved compatibility with combat mods.
Native Weapon Guarding
Eligible melee weapons can now guard attacks by holding right-click.
Weapon guarding is available when the weapon is ready and the attack cooldown is fully charged. Bows, crossbows, tridents, blunt weapons, shields, and items with an existing use action are excluded.
Weapon guards use the existing Guard system, including stamina damage, armor-weight modifiers, pressure, Counter-Exposed, and equipment durability.
A new weapon-blocking animation and impact sound have been added.
Holding a shield in the offhand prevents the main-hand weapon guard from overriding shield use.
Blood Effects
Added blood spray, blood mist, and blood pool particles.
Inflicting Bleeding now produces an initial burst of blood based on the severity of the effect.
Bleeding entities continue releasing blood particles over time. More severe Bleeding produces particles more frequently.
Blood droplets can land on the ground and form persistent blood pools.
Nearby blood pools merge and grow as additional blood accumulates.
Added dedicated status icons for Wounded and Bleeding.
Undead creatures, Skeletons, Slimes, and Golems remain unable to bleed.
Low-Stamina Visual Feedback
The screen now gradually loses color when player stamina falls below 50%.
A subtle blue screen filter becomes stronger as stamina approaches zero.
Creative and Spectator players are unaffected.
Impact
Receiving a blocked, deflected, armored, or damaging hit can trigger camera shake and radial blur.
Attackers also receive camera feedback when their strike connects or is deflected.
Combat Visual Improvements
Reworked armor glancing sparks with faster movement, shorter lifetimes, improved lighting, and better directional alignment.
Glancing sparks now become visible only after clearing the point of impact, reducing visual clipping inside entities.
Improved the visibility and rendering of armor deflection sparks.
Epic Fight Compatibility
Epic Fight’s default clash sound is now replaced by Iron & Blood’s weapon-blocking sound.
Improved weapon-guard detection and feedback for Epic Fight blocks and parries.
Exhausted Epic Fight mobs now have their animated attack goals temporarily suspended.
Suspended Epic Fight attack goals are restored after the mob recovers its stamina.
Mob AI Improvements
Expanded the exhausted attack lock to support both goal-based and Brain-based mob AI.
Exhausted mobs temporarily lose their Brain attack target, preventing them from continuing special or memory-driven attacks.
Their previous target is restored after stamina recovery when it remains valid.
This prevents more modded and vanilla mobs from attacking while exhausted.
Balance Changes
Iron Golems now have 36 points of natural defense.
Fixes
Fixed some Epic Fight mobs continuing animated attacks after exhausting their stamina.
Fixed Brain-based mobs bypassing the exhausted attack lock.
Fixed overlapping Epic Fight and Iron & Blood blocking sounds.
Improved restoration of mob attack behavior after stamina recovery.
