No code or recompiling needed — ore generation is datapack JSON. Three files per ore:
data/<namespace>/worldgen/configured_feature/<ore>.json— what generates (block, vein size, stone it replaces).data/<namespace>/worldgen/placed_feature/<ore>.json— how much and where (veins per chunk, height range).data/<namespace>/neoforge/biome_modifier/<ore>.json— injects it into the mining biome:
{
"type": "neoforge:add_features",
"biomes": "infinity_mining_dimension:infinity_mining_biome",
"features": ["<namespace>:<ore>"],
"step": "underground_ores"
}
Layer heights (above_bottom, world spans -64): end stone -64–-32, netherrack -32–-1, deepslate -1–32, stone 32–64. Wrap files with "neoforge:conditions": [{"type": "neoforge:mod_loaded", "modid": "<mod>"}] so they only load when the mod is present. To disable a mod's ores, override its modifier file with {"type": "neoforge:none"}.
