# Improve the expectations

A lightweight, client-side optimization mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1.

The goal is simple: **change nothing about how the game looks or plays**, and just trim unnecessary rendering work. No new blocks, items, mobs or mechanics, and no changes to your world or save files.

## What it does
- **Distant mob culling** – mobs far beyond the camera are no longer drawn. Players, your own camera entity and vehicles/passengers are always rendered. Default distance: 96 blocks.
- **Background FPS limiter** – when the game window is not in focus, the game drops to a low frame rate (default 15 FPS) to free up your CPU and GPU.

## Why you can trust it
- Client-only: safe to join servers that don't have the mod.
- No Mixins, no core-mods: it only uses standard Forge events, so it is designed to avoid conflicts with other mods.
- Every feature can be turned off or tweaked in `config/improve_the_expectations-client.toml`.

## Honest note about performance
The gains are modest and depend on your situation (many mobs far away, or the game running in the background). This mod does not promise a fixed FPS boost. For big gains, use it alongside other optimization mods such as Embeddium or ModernFix.

## Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.4.26 or newer
- Java 17
