ImmersiveFX - NeoForge / Fabric API
Hear the world, not just see it.
ImmersiveFX is a fork of Dynamic Surroundings by OreCruncher. It adds more sound events, particles and high-quality sound effects to Minecraft. Every sound from Dynamic Surroundings and other ambience mods has been replaced with fully original, high-quality audio, recorded in a professional Foley studio in Germany.
It also gives you full control over the sounds you hear.
Client side only. Install it on your client and it works on any server. Servers don't need it, and vanilla players can still join.

What ImmersiveFX does
Footsteps & Movement
- Footstep sounds for every block: grass, stone, wood, sand, gravel, snow, metal, glass, carpet and many more, each with its own sound
- Walking, running, jumping and landing all sound different
- Armor sounds: leather rustles, chainmail jingles, plate armor clanks
- Footprints in sand, snow and mud
- Swimming and wading through water. Your own splashes and dives play in clean, direct stereo
Biome Ambience in 3D
- Ambience for every biome: forests, plains, deserts, oceans, swamps, jungles, taigas, savannas, mountains, the Nether and the End
- True 3D sound: ambience comes from the direction the biome lies in. Stand at a forest edge next to a river and you hear the water on one side and the birds on the other. Turn your head and the soundscape turns with you
- Day and night sets: birds at dawn, crickets and owls at night
- Spot sounds like birds, woodpeckers, frogs, wind and village life
- Caves, underwater and the sky each have their own ambience
Visual Effects
- Auroras in cold biomes at night
- Fireflies at dusk
- Water ripples and splashes from rain and dripping water
- Waterfalls with spray, and a sound that fades in as you get closer
- Steam, fire and bubble jets
- Biome fog, morning fog, elevation haze and weather fog
Special FX
Small sounds that make everyday actions feel alive:
- Blood splatter and blood particles when you hit with swords, axes and pickaxes
- Crafting, smelting and dropping items
- Opening crafting tables, furnaces, anvils, looms, stonecutters, smithing tables and more
- Mobs appearing with a puff of smoke
- Your stomach growls when you're hungry
- Lying down in bed and chat messages
Sound Control
- Seamless loops: every ambience loop crossfades into itself, with no clicks and no gaps
- Volume control for every single sound, plus sound categories
- Reverb and occlusion: sounds echo in caves and get muffled behind walls
- Culls sounds that repeat too often (endless cow mooing, anyone?)
- In-game sound browser to preview, mute or adjust any sound
Settings
Everything lives in one settings screen (Mods → ImmersiveFX → Config), sorted into categories: General · Sound Control · Environs · Mob Effects · Special FX
Every Special FX sound can be switched on or off and has its own volume slider. 3D ambience, loop crossfading, fade-in time and much more can be adjusted.
