ImmersionUI
Ditch the floating HUD and carry it instead.
ImmersionUI swaps Minecraft's on-screen HUD for things your character actually carries. You check a watch on your wrist, unbuckle a leather tool belt and open a field journal you hold in both hands. It runs on top of vanilla, so your health, hunger, inventory and hotbar all work exactly the same underneath. Install it on a server too and other players see you use your gear.
The Watch (H)
Raise your wrist to read your health, hunger, armor and XP on a watch strapped to your arm. Press H again to lower it.
- Two styles: a rugged field watch with a lume window, or a polished classic watch with chronograph-style sub-dials.
- A live sky window: the sun and moon cross the sky, stars twinkle at night, and you can see rain, snow, thunderstorms and lightning. The ground at the bottom matches the dimension you're in.
- Every vanilla detail is there: absorption, saturation, poison and wither hearts, and armor durability. A food preview shows how much the food in your hand will restore.
- Alerts: when your health or hunger gets low, or a piece of armor is about to break, the watch beeps, flashes a warning and comes up on its own.
- Potion effects appear as patches sewn onto your sleeve.
The Utility Belt (B)
Your hotbar becomes a leather belt with nine pouches, held up in front of you. Each item stands in its pouch as a real 3D model, including items from other mods. The scroll wheel and the 1 to 9 keys still pick the slot. The belt moves with your hands as you walk, and at night your other hand pulls a lantern from your hip to light the pouches.
The Field Journal (J)
Take out a real 3D book with curved pages, a ribbon, colored index tabs and a clip-on reading lamp. You click and type right on the pages.
- Inventory: your whole inventory, written into the book
- Status: your condition, active effects, experience and last meal
- World: biome, dimension, time, weather, moon phase and your last death
- Places: save locations by name and see the distance and direction to each
- Notes: free-text notes, saved per world
- Stats: your real game statistics
- Gear: key binds, settings and your choice of watch
Your Inventory, in the Journal
Press E in survival and your inventory opens as a page in the journal. Your armor sits beside a figure of you that follows your cursor, next to the crafting grid, your pack and your belt. It's Minecraft's real inventory underneath, so shift-clicking, drag-splitting, double-click gathering, number keys, crafting and dropping all work as usual, in singleplayer and on servers.
In creative, the journal's Inventory page has a bin that deletes the item on your cursor, just like vanilla's Destroy Item slot.
Multiplayer: Everyone Sees Your Gear
With ImmersionUI on the server as well as on your client, the players around you see what you're doing:
- The watch: your arm comes up across your chest with the live watch face turned toward you.
- The belt: held up between both hands with your real hotbar items in its pouches, and a lantern held out in front at night.
- The journal: open in both hands. Others only see blank paper, so your notes and places stay private.
- Third person: press F5 and you see yourself exactly the way others see you.
Gear only shows on your body while you're using it. Turn on Always Show Worn Gear to keep the watch and belt on you all the time. Without ImmersionUI on the server, everything still works for you, you just won't see each other's gear.
Legendary Survival Overhaul Support
With Legendary Survival Overhaul installed, its stats move onto your gear and its own HUD pieces step aside:
- Thirst gets its own row on the watch, with hydration saturation, thirst effects and a drink preview.
- Body temperature shows as LSO's own icon, sweeping up or down as you warm up or cool off, and shaking when you're in danger.
- Wetness shows as a drop that grows the wetter you get.
- Body damage, shield hearts, broken hearts and Cold Hunger all show on the watch and in the journal.
- With a thermometer worn, the exact temperature is shown too.
Lamps and Themed Screens
- Lamps: when it gets dark (at night, in caves or when you're blinded), the watch face glows, a lantern lights up your belt and the journal's reading lamp casts warm light across the pages. Everything fades back out in daylight.
- Themed screens: leather, parchment and brass versions of the creative inventory, crafting table, furnaces, chests, barrels, shulker boxes, hoppers and more. They keep vanilla's exact layout, so slots from other mods still line up.
- Sounds: soft leather, chain and page sounds when you raise the watch, take out the belt or open the journal.
Settings
Everything is configurable from Mods, ImmersionUI, Config or from the journal's Gear page. Settings are sorted into tabs (General, HUD, Watch, Belt, Journal, Lamps and Sound, Multiplayer, and Survival with LSO) so they're easy to find:
- choose which HUD pieces to hide
- switch between the 3D arm and a flat watch
- pick the belt style
- set the lamps to automatic, always on or off
- change the animation speed and sound volume
- share your gear with other players and see theirs
- turn the journal inventory on or off
- and more
Press F7 at any time to bring back the vanilla HUD.

Compatibility
- Legendary Survival Overhaul: thirst, temperature, wetness and body damage on the watch and in the journal.
- Real Camera: you still pull out the 3D watch, belt and journal, held steady in front of you while your body shows below.
- Punchy: no double arms. The watch, belt and journal step aside while Punchy plays a two-handed animation like drying off, patting out fire or using flint and steel.
- Fresh Animations Player and Touch'n Motion (Entity Model Features): your body keeps the pack's animations while you use your gear. Only the arms holding something take the pose.
- Curios API: a ring icon in the journal shows your accessory slots right on the page.
- Inventory Tweaks Refoxed: a sort icon on the Pack heading sorts your inventory.
- Trash Slot: its bin becomes a slot on the journal page. Drop an item in to bin it, or click with an empty hand to get it back.
- Oculus shaders: tested with shader packs on and off. The journal lamp adjusts its lighting when shaders are on.
- Buttons and extra slots that other mods add to the inventory are carried onto the journal page.
- Optional on servers. You can join any server with it installed, with or without the server having it.
Feedback, Bugs and Requests
This mod is actively being worked on, and your feedback shapes where it goes next. Leave a comment if you:
- Found a bug. Say what happened and what you were doing, and include your Minecraft and Forge versions plus your other mods. A crash report or logs/latest.log helps a lot.
- Want a mod supported. If another mod's inventory buttons, slots, screens or animations don't look right with ImmersionUI, name the mod and I'll look at adding compatibility.
- Have an idea. New journal pages, watch faces, belt styles, settings or anything else you'd like to see.
Updates: new versions with fixes, more compatibility and new features are on the way. Follow the project to get notified, and check each file's changelog to see what changed.
